"It has been three years and we are still fixing the mistakes made by North Atlantic. Not only did they not listen when we were originally installing the patio, graded the patio into our garage (fun when it rains), they have ruined a large portion of our yard and our garden by extending the sand, rocks, and landscape fabric over 5 feet past the patio we asked them to install. When we asked them to fix it 3 years ago, they came and promised that it was all set. We have lost hundreds of dollars in plants and grass due to their lack of quality or promise. This was my 3rd effort to remove their mess and has cost me not only money, but 15+ hours of personal hard labor to repair the damage. I would not recommend them to anyone and I wasnâ t going to post anything, but spending 6 hours digging everything up yesterday, made me feel otherwise. Stay away!"

Building a concrete driveway normally takes between one and three days, including the time to cure the concrete. Wait at least seven days before driving on your driveway and two days before walking on it. Your contractor may require additional time if you need to level the ground, install a drainage system, or order special concrete materials. They may be able to fix cracks in your driveway or garage floor the same day they fix your concrete steps, as well. General concrete repair experts often won’t be able to handle larger jobs, like leveling a sunken foundation , so you’ll need to hire a structural engineer for bigger projects.

If you don’t seal a concrete patio, the surface may crack, fade, or stain. While it’s not strictly necessary to seal a concrete patio, doing so can help protect it, extend its lifespan, and enhance its beauty.

In most cases, you’ll want your patio to be 4 inches thick, although you should add reinforcement and increase the thickness up to around 8 inches if you want it to support heavier loads and resist cracking more readily. Although thicker slabs will cost more, you’ll start seeing diminishing returns at around 6 inches.
