Small jobs welcome

"We were referred to AJ Pro Green by a colleague so we had them come out for a free estimate. They showed up on time and were very professional. They insulated our basement during our remodel and we couldnâ t be happier. The job was done quickly, was within our budget, and communication was fantastic. We would highly recommended!"

"The work that was done installing spray foam underneath my four season room was fantastic! The owner and worker were absolutely fantastic. Great quality workmanship and very reasonably priced! I will definitely call this company for future work! Very professional, friendly, and clean. No messes were left behind. I already referred this company to friends."

"I could not have been more pleased by the work and the professionalism and the cost and the results. ABI was the first company to respond to my request for bids on the project. They were at the house within days of the request and were knowledgeable about putting insulation over light fixtures embedded in the ceiling. The attic did not have access from within or outside the house and they problem-solved this in a way that was a great solution. They lay down mats so as not to dirty up the carpets and stairs and they wore gear to protect themselves from the insulation. MY house was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. All of the people working on the project were professional and knowledgeable and the cost was extremely reasonable. For the first time this winter, my house feels like it can hold the heat. Looking forward to this summer, because I'm betting it will also improve my air conditioning!"

"Quality Insulation of Portsmouth did two jobs for me: They added blown in insulation to my attic last fall and installed gutters plus leaf guards this spring. Both jobs were excellently done at a reasonable cost. I would certainly recommend them and will likely use them again in the future."

"I was plagued with recurring ice dams in a few areas of my roof. After investigation, it was discovered that the insulation in a few visible areas was sub-par. Roland came in and quickly spotted the problem areas. He assured me that the could fix these problems immediately. He used a combination of rearranging existing batts, blown-in fiberglass and spray foam to seal the attic space, over the course of two visits. He's extremely personable and always called me back or answered the phone right away."

"I would highly recommend Jeremy for any home renovation needs. He is my go to contractor for anything I need done around my rental property and home. His attention to detail, punctuality, professionalism, and honesty sets him far apart from many other contractors I’ve worked with over the years. Jeremy has helped me with drywall (replacement and finishing), flooring, trim, and priming an entire unit for a repaint! Each time it was a pleasure working with him, and will definitely be working with him again in the future."

"I found Todd through searches on Facebook and Angi, and after getting 3 estimates, chose him to take on a challenging renovation in my 100+ year old home. His estimate wasn't the lowest, but I just had a feeling he would be a good fit. Things didn't always go easily, but Todd got through them and did a stellar job. I couldn't be happier with his work and highly recommend him."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Look for flaking paint or air bubbles that burst and then flake away. Paint will begin to flake after being exposed to minimal moisture or water, so it’s a good indicator of any water damage. If you notice your paint starting to flake, feel the plaster underneath to see if it is soft or damp.

In most cases, no, you won’t need a permit to replace drywall. If you’re changing the floorplan of your home by adding or removing walls during the drywall project, then you might need a permit, but replacement or repairs usually doesn’t require a permit. Your drywall professional should be able to confirm whether or not a permit is required for your project. If it is, it’s likely to add between $50 and $150 to your total cost. Keep in mind that you will need permits if you plan to install new electrical wiring or plumbing lines behind your new drywall.

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

If you want to reduce sound transmission throughout your home, soundproofing drywall is a better choice than standard drywall. However, simply installing soundproofing drywall may not completely block out noise. You’ll get the best results from incorporating it into a larger soundproofing plan that includes proper insulation and framing studs.
