"Chuck and his assistant Smitty did an amazing job from start to finish. When asked for a quote, Chuck was available the next day and showed up right on time. He is not only a regular painter but a fine artist , which was just what I needed, as we wanted the kitchen cabinets to not only be painted, but have a distressed antique look. Chuck not only could envision exactly what we wanted, but was excited by the project. He made suggestions on process and colors, which turned to great.

During the entire 2 week project Chuck and Smitty were always on time, professional and hard working. In that I work from home, I needed someone that would be respectful of my work environment and also that I was comfortable having in my house with me home alone. Chuck and Smitty fit the bill. For the first time I actually enjoyed having workers in my house. Each night when they left, they always cleaned up and left the kitchen in as usable a state as possible, given the project.
The cabinets came out amazing, with neighbors thinking we had all new ones installed. The new wall  and trim color, transformed the rooms from dull to bright and cheery.
I can not recommend Chuck Christian design enough. If you want artistic, professional, hard working and honest painters, he is your man.

"However, as of Monday it will be almost a week since I have heard back and the only feedback I got was a promise to get back to me by the end of the day with a quote after I EMAILED HIM!
I have had so many handmen and contractors not call me back, or are unavailable. I was really excited to find someone and get started.
I felt like it shouldn't take this long to get an estimate on the work and I would rather be told straight forward that the project would not be big enough or the schedule did not work. If I am having this much trouble getting an estimate, what about the work?
We are trying to decide whether or not to put our home on the market and this price weighs in our decision."

"I feel extremely fortunate to have found Vicki through Angie's List !  She is an extremely talented person who is very easy to deal with. She has a breath of knowledge that allows her to accommodate my tastes, but also ensure that the overall design is in sync with the design and location of my home.  She has  a very diplomatic way of suggesting when I'm going astray with my choices and in every case where she has told me "Trust Me"  I have been delighted ! She is very aggressive in helping me find the best pricing and often times will work with the vendors directly  hence saving me the time.  She also has excellent local contacts.  Everyone I've worked with through Vicki has been timely, professional, and highly competent.
My project is far from complete.  I intend to continue to use Vicki and her expert advice until the end !!!!"

"It was not an emergency. I think we had time to get competitive quotes and I think he gave us the best quote. So we went with him. The quality is fine. We've gone two winters and the deck is in great shape. He did what we asked him to do. I would hire him again."

Home Staging questions, answered by experts

The main difference between a home stager and an interior designer is that the former creates temporary, generally appealing spaces, while the latter creates personalized design choices for your permanent home. A home stager seeks to depersonalize your home while also showing off the best features of the home to potential buyers. An interior designer works with you to infuse your personal style into the decor in your home. You’ll typically only hire a local home stager when selling your home.

Costs depend on home size, number of rooms staged, duration of staging, and furniture rental needs.

Professional home staging services can vary between companies and properties, but the primary goal is to set up a house with aesthetic furniture and decor to entice potential buyers. Many stagers offer customizable packages, and you can often pay for additional services. Common offerings include:

  • Design and Planning: Color design, planning each room's layout, and professional interior design services.

  • Furniture and Decor: Choosing and renting furniture, decor, and artwork. This also includes the setup and takedown of all rented materials.

  • Arrangement and Organization: Rearranging existing furniture, decluttering, and organizing the space.

  • Ambiance: Creating a welcoming atmosphere with strategic lighting and accessories.

  • Repairs and Maintenance: Minor repairs, home maintenance, and addressing visible issues.

  • Curb Appeal: Improving the home's exterior with services like painting and garden bed management.

It's best to connect with a professional home stager to see what’s included in their specific packages or to request a custom service.

It is generally better to stage a house than to leave it empty, as it can help the home sell faster and for a higher price. Staging helps potential buyers envision themselves living in the property. According to the National Association of Realtors, more than 75% of buyer’s agents report that staging makes it easier for buyers to build a connection with the home. Furthermore, a 2018 survey of over 4,200 professionally staged homes revealed that most sold for 6% to 25% more than their unstaged counterparts. Using a professional staging service can improve a buyer’s opinion of your house and may lead to higher offers.

Most staging projects take 2-5 days, including furniture arrangement, décor placement, and touch-ups.
