"Project - Complete the work of replace siding and windows from a job previous contractor left half way. They are extremely professional, friendly and reliable. They delivered everything and more they promised on time. We were remote. They kept us informed every step of the job. We had a very fussy tenant in the property. The crew had to go in to the house. We were concerned how it will work. The tenant was very happy with the work they did and how they cleaned up afterwards. We highly recommend them. We will ask them to come back and do our decks once the weather gets better."

Small jobs welcome

"I posted on Angi and Matt responded immediately and was friendly and professional. He made an access entry from the original basement wall into my addition. There was little to no cleanup for me after! Job well done to Matt and Dickie. I highly recommend Smithtown Landworks."

"I hired this pro to do a retaining wall and remove an old cement walkway and add back in a paved one! The project came out beautifully! Bobby was wonderful, very easy to talk too, very responsive to text and calls. I was never left waiting to hear back! His employee Ray was just as nice and helpful, I would recommend them over any big company! Such attention to detail!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Above ground pools are not buried in the ground. Typically, above ground pools are semi-permanent. One reason they’re more affordable is that you don’t have to dig for an inground pool and pour concrete or another material. However, you can choose to install a semi inground pool, which is a hybrid between the two.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

How deep your septic system needs to be into the ground depends on several factors. In extremely cold environments, the tank needs to rest below the maximum frost line, which can be up to six or eight feet deep. The standard burying depth for most systems is between a few inches and four feet below ground level. Depth can also depend on the slope of the landscaping and other property variables.

Excavation and grading are both generally necessary for designing your foundation, and leveling the ground where your foundation will go. These steps can also prepare the area by removing vegetation and anything else that could interfere with your home’s foundation.
