"I hired. NPC 3 Services to remove three trees that were damaged during a recent storm. Lisa came out on a Wednesday and by that Friday Nick and his crew were on site. They did an outstanding job, were early, professional, know what they are doing. Very impressed with the cleanup also. Very Happy with NPC 3. Outstanding job."

Small jobs welcome

"Taylor and his crew did an outstanding job removing the 46 trees that were in danger of falling on our home. Majority of them were dead and diseased. Taylor is very knowledgeable, professional and very reasonably priced. Taylor was here on time every day that he said he would be here. He answered every question we had throughout the process and we had many since we are new home buyers. We are extremely happy that we found him on Angi and would highly recommend him to everyone we know, and hire him again if ever need additional services. Thank you very much for everything. You have put our minds at ease knowing that we are safe from trees falling on our house. Superb job gentlemen!"

"We couldn't be happier with the service! We started with Coyne Properties back in the Spring for a yard cleanup including some weed whacking and the first mow of the year. Needless to say; We've had them coming back every week to maintain our lawn care. The team is reliable, professional, and always does an outstanding job. Simply can't say enough; If you're looking for a dependable lawn care company that truly cares, I highly recommend them!"

"Evan did an excellent job taking 2 trees down for me. It was obvious he is highly experienced just by watching him set up for the job through completion. There is nothing easy about tree removal but, if you do things in the correct order and with accuracy it looks easy and Evan did just that. Thereâ s no doubt I will use Evanâ s services again. Highly recommended, professional and a very nice guy."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. However, consulting a tree maintenance pro to make this determination the best course of action before removing a tree.

Many species, especially when well-established, are not fans of transplantation. You’ll need to decide if you want to risk splashing the cash, understanding that transplantation isn’t always successful. Again, this is where hiring a pro is helpful, as they can give you all the essential info you need to ensure your tree stands a fighting chance.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.

Yes, you can hire professionals to move a tree. Arborists and tree transplanting companies specialize in this type of work and use equipment like hydraulic tree spades to safely extract and relocate trees with their root balls intact. Since tree moving is a complex process, especially for larger trees, it’s best left to experts who understand how to protect the tree’s health and ensure the safety of everyone involved.

We don’t recommend DIY tree trimming for a few different reasons. First, the tools required to trim a tree can be costly, up to $1,100 or more, for the ladders and specialized saws needed.

Safety is another concern, especially when working with more mature trees. As a guideline, you should only DIY tree trimming when branches are less than two inches in diameter. Any more, and the safety risk becomes too high, which could lead to catastrophe. For this job, it’s safest to let a tree-trimming professional assess the work needed.
