Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. Just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should. You can apply new tile over existing tile in a bathroom, but the new tile may not look great if you lay it over worn, cracked, or uneven tiles.
