"We are in the midst of a basement remodel of our 1920 home, which required substantial updating to our plumbing. Greens has provided us with outstanding service and recommendations throughout the entire process. Jerry Kobza was an exceptional manager and helped keep our project on task. He went beyond the call of duty to coordinate with Green's HVAC group while always being available to answer questions. And our plumber Duane was just simply fantastic. He was timely, hard-working, and most important, incredibly knowledgeable. In the end, Duane made our project even better than what we had originally expected. If you are ever in need of a quality plumber, I'd highly recommend Duane and Greens."

"BEWARE, RECORD YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH THESE PEOPLE, they are completely dishonest. I had a sewer backup in my laundry room overnight and called Roto-Rooter to come and give me an estimate on what was wrong, no estimate, the technician got started right away. He went in with the machine and pulled back a small amount of roots from my line. He then put a scope down the line the entire length to the city main, I watched the entire time and verified the line was open, flowing and in-tact. He then decided to have another pass at it and after about 20 minutes of struggling with his equipment, he pulled back a snapped cable, sent the scope back down and came across a majorly damaged section of clay tile pipe with total blockage. I realize I live in an older home, the technician said however, the pipe was in decent condition. He quickly packed up and presented me with a $500 fee and to sign waiver of all responsibility for damage. I questioned what had just happened and he immediately got defensive and aggressive. INCREDIBLY unprofessional. The owner, Mark was no help either. I thought he may work with me on a resolution but he blindly stands by his staff, apparently condoning their intimidation tactics. I was threatened with a lien on my home and now am awaiting a bill for $500, my sewer line is still backing up and now get to to figure out a solution to the $7500 in damage. Beware, this company does not stand by it's customers, or try to come to a resolution, I was gaslit and received nothing but defense of his technician with no substantive resolution."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning, avoiding grease disposal in sinks, and installing drain strainers help prevent clogs.

It’s generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. In most cases, the level of sewer gas you’re exposed to in a home will be low enough to only cause minor symptoms, though high levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous. If you’re smelling sewer gas in your home, it’s important to locate, assess, and fix the problem, because it won’t go away on its own.

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

Cat pee has a strong ammonia-like smell, so if you smell cat pee but don’t have a cat or don’t suspect your cat has any accidents, there could be other issues at hand. Aside from pet urine, your house may smell like cat pee from leaking freon from an old fridge, mold, spilled cleaning supplies, or even outside odors from nearby farms.

Snakes can occasionally enter homes through shower drains, although it’s quite rare. This can happen when they follow sewer pipes or accidentally find their way into plumbing systems. To minimize the risk, consider installing drain covers or stoppers on your shower drains. Always keep drains closed when they’re not in use, especially in areas where snakes are known to be active.
