"Very thorough work. Made sure skylight was fitted properly and waterproofed the roofing around it. Even made sure colors matched the house/roof. Great customer service. I would definitely call again if I need waterproofing and roof repair."

"This company offered to come out and cover our leaky roof/skylight on a Friday night. That wasnâ t needed but the were very prompt in giving us a bid and now less than 48 hours later our leak is fixed at a reasonable price. We were invited to inspect the finished work from inside and shown pictures of the work done . Very pleasant and efficient people to work with."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the required roof type and structural modifications.

Skylights might sometimes increase your homeowners insurance premium, but the increase is usually minimal. Some home insurance companies won’t adjust your premium with the addition of a skylight, so you can contact your insurer or your professional skylight installer to ask about any expected changes. It’s crucial to have an expert install the skylight, as insurance companies may not insure your roof or cover water damage that results from a non-professional skylight installation.

Yes, you can add blinds or shades to both roof windows and skylights, but roof windows tend to have more options available. Retractable skylight shades are popular on both options for added privacy, light control, and heat reduction, although they’re more expensive than manually-operated blinds or shades. If you have a roof window or skylight set in a high ceiling, a motorized or solar-powered skylight window covering is probably your best bet.

Yes, solar tubes are easier to install than skylights because they’re lighter, smaller, and easier to handle. They also require less roof cutting and have a faster, simpler installation process. This means they’re a more DIY-friendly option for homeowners who want to add more natural light to their homes.

There are four main types of lighting used in homes: ambient, task, accent, and decorative. Within these categories, there are a number of fixtures to choose from including ceiling-mounted lights, floor lamps, under-cabinet lights, track lighting, and more.

Choosing the fixture that’s right for you depends on your home design and the area you’re looking to illuminate.
