Our owner knows what it means to serve people, and to serve them well. After almost 8 years in the military, he became a supervisor specializing in fire, water, and mold damage for people in the greater grand Forks area. It was through his service to the Red River Valley That he saw a need for a pure, honest, and reliable junk removal service. Since starting the business in 2023, we have had the pleasure of removing over 166 tons or 322,000 pounds of waste for our customers! And we are just getting started! A small amount of diluted bleach is okay to pour down a garbage disposal. As part of your weekly garbage disposal maintenance, use 1 teaspoon of bleach with your concoction of ice cubes and lemon peels. Turn on the disposal and run the water until the blades chop up the ice cubes.

Any more bleach in your disposal can harden oils and greases in your drain, which can cause problems. Always wear gloves when working with bleach, and know that you really don’t need bleach at all—vinegar, baking soda, salt, and ice should do the trick.

To eliminate waste without polluting, consider whether it can be recycled, reused, or donated. However, hazardous waste, such as chemicals or electronics, requires special handling and disposal to prevent it from polluting landfills. You can throw away moldy things if desired, but you can also clean the mold from certain items. Saving wood furniture by cleaning the mold is possible. You also can clean mold from plastic, metal, and glass materials. It’s far more difficult to clean mold from paper, carpet, cardboard, and mattresses.

The only packing material that isn’t often recyclable is rubber, but rubber bands aren’t common for packing and moving. Some materials used for moving, like cardboard, paper, and hard plastic, are easy to recycle and can often just go out for regular pickup with your other recyclables, like cans and bottles. Plastic films and packing peanuts can be a bit more difficult to recycle and usually need to go to a dedicated recycling facility that can handle those specific materials.

It is not advisable to do so. Putting the rags in your washer could contaminate the machine with dangerous oils and chemicals. Also, it is perilous to put washed oily rags in your dryer. The dryer's heat could cause combustible fumes from the residue left on the rags, potentially causing a fire.
