Customers say: Quick response

"We hired Mr. Jeffrey Moss to inspect the foundation of a house we were looking to buy. He responded to my inquiry right away, and I was able to schedule with him very quickly as well. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He showed up early, was very thorough, and extremely likeable. The report came back within days, and his prices are better than the other structural engineers I had spoken to that weren't even rated on this site! I would highly, highly recommend him!"

Offers commercial services

I am a licensed Professional Engineer providing structural engineering services for residential and small commercial projects. I work with homeowners, contractors, and design professionals to help move projects through the permit process by providing structural calculations, drawings, evaluations, and engineering letters as needed.\n\nIn-person structural inspections are available in Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia. Remote structural consulting is available in Delaware and North Carolina.\n\nTypical projects include load-bearing wall removal, beam and header sizing, additions, decks, foundation concerns, and framing evaluations. My goal is to provide practical, code-compliant structural solutions that are clear, efficient, and tailored to the project.

"Evolution design worked with me on designing and addition for a 100 and 5 year old house. We worked on the dimensions of the addition Plus the materials. Evolution understood the local zoning which was amazing that they knew that. We have not started construction. And evolution can help pull the permits and I'm considering them for that as well. All in all it was a long project but it was done efficiently, working with several of the staff an the departments."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Wilson should gather their property survey, original construction drawings, and records of any previous repairs or renovations. It’s helpful to document insurance claims related to flooding or storms, note the property’s flood zone status, and collect information on utility connections. Recording any available soil test results or drainage observations ensures that engineers can quickly understand the site’s unique challenges and history.

Helpful?

Signs of thorough structural engineering work in Wilson include completed permits, successful inspection reports, and comprehensive as-built documentation. Look for foundations designed for local soils, effective drainage systems, and hurricane-resistant features. Absence of settling or moisture problems after seasonal changes is a positive indicator. Seamless integration with Wilson’s utilities and clear project records further confirm that the work meets local standards and long-term expectations.

Helpful?

Professionals in Wilson begin by analyzing property surveys and reviewing local building plans to establish precise boundaries. They assess soil conditions characteristic of Wilson’s coastal plain, evaluate flood risk, and factor in zoning rules and setback requirements. Consideration of nearby utilities and infrastructure, including broadband lines, ensures project boundaries are practical. This thorough approach helps tailor each structural engineering project to Wilson’s unique site conditions.

Helpful?

For a seamless structural engineering project in Wilson, it’s important to obtain permits early and coordinate closely with local inspectors. Establishing a clear project timeline that accounts for Wilson’s weather patterns and seasonal events helps prevent delays. Open communication with neighbors and local associations builds support, while sourcing materials from Wilson suppliers can reduce lead times and keep the project moving efficiently from start to finish.

Helpful?

The durability of structural engineering work in Wilson relies on designing for hurricane winds, managing moisture in the humid climate, and choosing materials compatible with local soil chemistry. Addressing the challenges of sandy soils and heavy rainfall is essential. Projects that go beyond minimum code requirements and anticipate future growth trends in Wilson are more likely to remain resilient and functional for many years.
