"They did a great job! My roof looks great! Reliable and kept me well informed about everything. They kept cost in mind and cleaned up nicely after themselves. Serge even came out late to tarp the roof until it could get repaired so that I didnâ t have any further damage to the house waiting for the roof. They were very nice to work with. Great people. I canâ t say enough good things about them!"

"The two men from A-1 Construction & Roofing were very kind and courteous. Brett was prompt in his arrival for the inspection of my roof and giving me options on repair. I chose the 45 mil rubber roof overlayment for the repair as it was more cost effective for me and Brett said it had a 50 year warranty. He called and got the material cost and gave me a fair quote for completing the job. He and his coworker Chris came with the materials and promptly started the job. They were very thorough and professional with the repairs as I observed and answered any questions I had. They did a super job on my mobile home roof repair and I am very happy with the results. It looks great. These guys are very professional, easy and fun to work with. I highly recommend A-1 Construction & Roofing for your roofing or construction needs. I rate them 5 Stars."

"Loved Lance, he was honest, fair, reasonable and completed the work as promised and then some. I would definitely recommend Lance to anyone needing landscaping completed. He extended our driveway back and to the side with gravel, replaced the existing railroad ties, graded previously stump grinding, tamped and added dirt around our septic risers, moved dirt to file in a ditch, and placed seed and straw down where he disturbed the ground!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to build a pool—and dig out the area—varies based on the pool size and type. A professional excavator will take between four and eight hours to dig a pool. The process will take longer if they encounter large boulders or tree roots. Keep in mind that this is a small part of the process in the long run. You will need between eight and 12 weeks to build a pool from start to finish, including the time to apply for permits.

The physical constraints of hand-drilling a well limit the depth you can achieve. Manually digging with picks and shovels may only lead to shallow wells of up to 60 feet in depth. To reach greater depths, you need more specialized equipment. The diameter of your well and the tools you’re using will determine how far down you can dig.

Yes, professional installations include trenching or borehole drilling required for ground loops.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.
