"Doug did a little bit of everything in the concrete and mason services for us.  He poured, repaired and built new.  Everything was done with high professionalism and quality.  The biggest project was our patio steps which were dangerous and out dated.  He cut out a new line in the raised patio and built new brick steps to better fit the flow of the back yard.  The new steps look great and are much safer.  He had to remove a lot of concrete and dirt and then rebuild so this was a big project.  His team works hard and are very professional.  I would use Doug again!

Small jobs welcome

"They made a contract, and completed the job in the time agreed. I required more concrete then first planned. The extra work was completed quickly with a fair price for the increase. I recommend them very highly. Gail Perry"

"We were really pleased with Controlled Abatement Technologies, and appreciated Jim's responsiveness and honesty.
Jim was recommended to us by someone who refinishes hardwood floors- he heard of him through a happy client of Controlled Abatement Technologies.  Jim was very responsive over the phone, and quickly schedule a time to come see our home.  He spent over an hour with us explaining to us our options and what the process would be. He was professional, courteous and reasonable.
We decided to hire him, and arranged to leave a key to do the work while we were out of the town over the weekend.  He sent us photos of our house during the process and when he was finished.  He was prompt, and they left our house clean.  We really liked him, and think that he did a great job. We would recommend him to friends and family in a heartbeat.

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

This all depends on the tools you have on hand and whether you’re trying to cut a straight line or shapes.

The best tool to use for straight lines is either a circular saw or table saw. When cutting shapes, a jigsaw will be the easiest and most precise tool to use.

The best thing to cut metal pipe is a durable pipe cutter that is made for metal. You may want to measure the diameter of the pipes before purchasing a pipe cutter to ensure it will be able to cut your metal pipes. Opt for a heavy-duty option to cut through metal like steel or cast iron.
