"I literally cannot say enough about Our experience with EnviroFry. Divine and William went above and beyond in doing our mold removal project, including adding on a significant additional project (our workshop in the basement which leaked for the first five years we lived in the house). They have excellent knowledge related to mold remediation, were dedicated and caring, and were willing to go more than the extra mile. Hire them and you won?t be sorry!"

"All of the employees at A&E Restoration are awesome! I started the washing machine before leaving for several hours to run errands. Apparently, one of the water hoses to the washing machine had gotten a crack in it. I came home to a flooded laundry room and a saturated wood floor. My insurance company was difficult to work with to say the least. JP from A&E restoration came to look at the damage and give me a quote. They were very knowledgeable and gave me peace of mind. They dealt with the insurance company so I didn’t have to. They worked hard to dry out the water damage and take out the damaged flooring. They kept their work area clean and communicated their progress. These are honest people and I was very comfortable having them in my home. Hopefully something like this will never happen again but if it does A&E Restoration will be my first call."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Some mold can look like dust, but most doesn’t. Powdery mildew is often confused with dust as it’s a similar color and grows in a similar way. Some gray molds can look like dust as well, but usually, it’s pretty easy to spot the difference. It’s better to be safe, so if you aren’t completely sure what you’re seeing is dust, call a mold professional to check it out.

The duration of mildew smell in carpets depends on several factors, including the extent of moisture, cleanliness, and ventilation. If promptly addressed, the smell can diminish within a few days to a couple of weeks after thoroughly drying and cleaning the carpet. However, in severe cases or if not properly treated, the smell might persist. Persistent odors could indicate deeper mildew growth, requiring professional cleaning or, in extreme cases, carpet replacement to completely eliminate the smell.

The microscopic asbestos fibers do not cause eye irritation, throat irritation, or lung irritation. If you are inhaling fibers, you will not know it. This lack of immediate symptoms is one of the reasons why asbestos is so dangerous. You cannot know for certain if you are inhaling fibers, which is why you must wear safety gear if you could have any chance of an exposure while working.

While fiberglass dust is not generally considered toxic, inhaling the fibers can cause irritation to the respiratory system, eyes, and skin. Short-term exposure may lead to temporary discomfort, including coughing, throat irritation, and shortness of breath. However, prolonged or chronic exposure can result in more severe respiratory problems. Unlike asbestos, fiberglass is not associated with life-threatening illnesses. To minimize health risks when working with fiberglass materials, it is essential to use proper safety measures, such as wearing protective equipment like masks and goggles.

Toxic mold doesn't have a specific color; instead, toxicity depends on the type of mold and the mycotoxins it produces. Stachybotrys chartarum (also known as black mold) is notorious for its potential toxicity. However, not all molds appearing black are Stachybotrys chartarum. Mold species that appear in various colors, such as green, gray, brown, or black, can also produce mycotoxins. Therefore, it's essential to focus on identifying the type of mold through professional testing rather than relying solely on color to determine its toxicity.
