"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

"Not too good ! The workers were good . The owner Matt promised that the work would be completed in 2 weeks still not done as of today 01/13/2024 ,it has been one excuse after another on 11/22/24 needed to install the new shutters, he promised and gave his word and a hand shake , so we paid in full on 11/22/24 , cause we were going out of town for a bit , thought I was doing good but it has hit me hard , still not done as of today 1/13/24 . Numerous lies , he said we will get them this week , and was told on 4 ( Tex messages)different occasions that the shutters were either delivered or had picked them up . Also the main reason we went with a metal roof we had a roof leak and wanted it stopped it was on our back porch in the center of the back door , it leaks worse now than ever before , was also promised that it would be fixed (not fixed ).1 light fixture not fixed .asked for 6” gutters got 5” I am ok with the 5”gutters, and only got 6 down spouts asked and paid for 8 down spouts (have 8 points or the house , need 1 down spout per point .the siding looks good except the light fixture and outside water spicket should have new mounting blocks, they have the old ones still that do not match . ( 1 is broken 2 don’t have one ).2 places on the front porch needs to be fixed where it all should be wrapped in black metal it look bad. I don’t like being lied too and taken advantage of , all I wanted was to get this work done and not cut corners, for the money I paid it should have been done more professionally."

"We were remodeling the kitchen in our basement and needed countertops. I called around to several places and found the lowest price at East Tennessee Casework. They were able to explain to me exactly how I needed to measure to make the countertops come out right. I came in with my drawings and they made up the work order. Even though they usually deal directly with contractors, they were willing to explain the process to us as do-it-yourselfers and to take our order. They told us exactly what the price would be. We paid a small deposit when the order was placed, and they said the countertop would be ready in 2 weeks. They called us when it was ready and we went to pick it up. After we paid for it, a couple of guys helped load it into our van. The counters were cut to the sizes we specified and we were very satisfied with the results. They have a large range of colors and types of laminate for countertops, and samples are posted in their showroom area. The prices are lower than the big home center stores, and the service is just as fast or faster, although they do not take credit cards, so you need to be ready with cash or a check."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Adding an extension or addition to your home costs more than a loft conversion in all but the rarest cases where the home's structural integrity is lacking. Because a home addition requires a new foundation section or significant structural upgrades to handle a cantilevered portion, the cost compared to almost any loft conversion is significantly greater for the same square footage.

In addition to overseeing new home builds, construction managers work on large renovations and major remodels. For example, they may work with designers and oversee the construction of a finished basement, kitchen renovation, or a home addition. They may also oversee large-scale remodels, such as the update of a historic home. Construction managers step into small projects for more specific assistance, such as building budgets and compiling the team.

You can paint your ceiling or install a drywall ceiling if the ceiling is unfinished, as they take up less headroom than drop ceilings.

If there are pipes in the way of ceiling installation, you can do one of two things: reroute the pipes or adjust the installation to fit, which will cost extra.

You should plan on waiting at least a year and ideally two to three years after construction before finishing your basement. This will give the foundation time to settle in response to the weight of your home and the expansion of the surrounding soil. You can then repair your foundation and seal any cracks as needed before finishing it to reduce your risk of future leaks or other issues.

Although it’s not required, air ventilation in a finished basement can help improve the air quality, prevent moisture and mold issues, keep musty odors away, and also maintain the air quality throughout the rest of your home. Proper ventilation will help maintain the value of your investment in finishing your basement. Try basement ventilation methods like installing vents or a dehumidifier for best results.
