There could be a few reasons why your sliding glass door is hard to open and close. First, make sure the doors are aligned. Misaligned doors grind onto the frame, which makes them harder to move around. If the doors are aligned, ensure the rollers are clean and the tracks are straight and free from obstructions.

There are a few reasons why your storm door won’t close when the front door closes. One possible explanation is that there’s air trapped between the two doors. If your door has a glass insert, try cracking it open slightly for better circulation. 

Alternatively, there might be an issue with your storm door closer. If you have a hold-open washer, make sure to slide it all the way toward the hinges before shutting the door. You can also try adjusting the tension on the closer.

To remove painted-over hinges for replacement or paint removal, you should use a utility knife to score around the edges of the hinges gently. Work very carefully so as not to damage the surrounding area. From there, you can unscrew the hinges and gently pry them off the door, making sure not to bend the metal.

Longer screws can make a door more secure, but this isn’t a foolproof method for security. Replacing the short screws in your door’s strike plate with screws that are 3 inches long will make it much more difficult for an intruder to force entry by kicking down the door, but it won’t do anything to stop them from picking the lock.
