In 2002 Mark Meadow (Now US Congressman) was a local realtor in Highlands's area and Invited Bill to build in one of his projects in Cashiers NC. Because of the craftsmanship and creativity his first home built here in the Smoky Mountains, seven more contracts to build came in that year. Bill has been building now for over 37+ years and enjoys the beautiful Smokey Mountains of North Carolina.
"I have done 2 remodeling projects with Bill Barbor Homes. At no point during bathroom/tub x2 remodels, as well as multiple exterior deck and siding repars did I feel any worry. I also experienced very reasonable pricing. I would definitely use them again. I would also choose a custom home built by them after experiencing the knowledge base they have in construction. Gibson's Construction has been established since 1996 we are family owned and operated and we offer full range of construction services and grading from small jobs to large jobs. We are a father and son team and use the best people and materials that we can find. We do not hire subcontractors because we do the work ourselves on-site to make sure they job is done right! we do contract price only. We will give a 10% discount for Angie's List members. we do not offer paving service or tank removal,pavers. We do the highest quality of work and services and do not take short cuts or bandaid fixes. With decades of experience and continued top service we are here to help, you are not just a customer but become family with us.
"David is hands down the best contractor I've ever worked with! He has a background in engineering and it shows. My home's driveway was severely damaged by Helene (we live up in the mountains near Swannanoa, NC) and we had a mass of earth precariously perched above our home. I was very nervous it could continue sliding into our home. In addition to this, where our road had collapsed, it had become dangerous to pass with a car. David and his team were able to assess the damage and develop a thorough, well-explained plan for repairing this road damage. We were able to build a retaining wall and reinforce the bank adjacent to our road. He even re-graveled our driveway at no additional cost because his trucks were unable to access our property due to sandy roads. The work was professional and of very high quality. While he was working on the road repairs I also had him check our foundation to see if things had shifted during the hurricane. David was able to identify some bowing/cracking and suggested a repair with steel bracing. We agreed to those repairs and while working on this he noticed our decking bolts had come undone. David then went around both our main home and an ADU to check the bolts/nuts were tightened down on all exterior structures. This was going beyond and above by a wide margin and showed how much David cares about doing the right thing and helping people above all else. I cannot recommend David enough both professionally and personally. He's a wonderful human who does excellent work and I will absolutely work with him again in the future! -Andrew"

"If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Apart from the first call, all other interactions with Evolution Drafting were a bait & switch. From the appt. date for site tech to measure my home, to the experience and skill set of the tech that was sent, to the lack of communication, the experience was awful. Deadlines were not met, no explanation or apology given; only excuses and partial/incorrect work was sent, seemingly in an attempt to appease me. When I did finally receive the initial two drafts of the "as-is" drawing, they had not even captured the exterior deck and facade (windows, doors, garage, etc.) at all, and this was noted from the beginning as the primary scope of work and primary reason for hiring them. Further, nearly every dimension in the "as-is" drawings that they sent me, was incorrect. Existing doors, walls, windows were missing in two iterations of the as-is drawings; delaying the ability to share the concept and desired renovation scopes until there was a correct baseline. The deposit paid was a complete waste as I waited 3+ weeks for the site tech's visit, then the drawings did not start until 3 days before the next milestone set was due to me. In checking dimensions like the length of my existing kitchen, placement of the main entry door to the home, etc., I found all of them to be incorrect. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They were dishonest, did not pay their site tech vendor on-time, causing him to contact me with threats of leaning the project before we even had drawings to submit to the city and the management and project coordinators made promises that they did not even attempt to keep or follow-up on promised communications."
