"I was contacted by this company's owner (Steve Ford) after asking for recommendations for HVAC technicians. After explaining my situation, I was told that it would be more cost effective to replace my system. He was going to try and secure financing (my credit is not great) and would get back to me - this was on a Tuesday. When I had not heard back by Saturday (today - 12/15/2018), I contacted him and asked for his office location so I could come speak to someone face to face (I prefer this before hiring anyone for anything). He immediately became extremely defensive and evasive (I have our entire conversation saved). He eventually gave an address. I had actually driven past the location twice in the past week, and it is a vacant building with a for rent sign at the street. When I mentioned that detail, his story (and location) changed, and he became irate, used foul language, and then blocked the conversation. If a business owner is willing to be deceptive on something this simple, how can anyone trust any information or prefessional opinion he gives? I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone, and I will continue to spread my story of my encounter with him."

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes. There are a variety of standard pipe sizes used in plumbing. The main supply line connecting your home to the street is either 3/4 or 1 inch in diameter. Supply lines are 3/4 inch in diameter. Individual components are 1/2 inch in diameter. Meanwhile, your main drainpipe is often 4 inches wide. Most shower and bathtub drains are 2 inches in diameter, most toilet drains are 3 inches in diameter, and most sink drainpipes are 1 1/4 or 1 ½ inches in diameter.

Modern gas fireplaces are relatively efficient and don't burn excessive amounts of gas, especially compared to older models. A gas fireplace might use between 10,000 to 40,000 BTUs per hour; the total amount of gas used depends on the fireplace's size, heat output, and how often it's in use. To help keep your running costs down, consider using a thermostat and turning off the fireplace when not needed to minimize gas consumption

Consider an annual inspection conducted by a local plumber to prevent dangerous and destructive leaks. If you recently moved into an older home or are concerned about the age of your gas lines, call an inspector for a closer look. You may also be required to call an inspector after your contractor installs a new line for an appliance.

Not all gas fireplaces need a chimney. If you install a ventless gas fireplace, it will release low levels of combustion byproducts back into your living space (instead of pushing them outside through a chimney or vent). Ventless fireplaces burn fuel efficiently, so the emissions are minimal—but they could bother people with allergies or respiratory issues.

No, you shouldn’t leave a gas line uncapped because it can allow gas to escape into your environment, which can lead to fires, explosions, and health hazards. That’s why it’s critical to properly cap and seal any unused gas lines as soon as you can. If you’re not comfortable with that, you can always call a licensed plumber to safely handle it for you.
