"took them our weed eater, told them the carb needs adj. they told me about a wk and $15. wk later they called us and said replaced the carb thats $80 (w/o asking us). my wife went to get it and they got attitude and threw the claim ticket at my daughter and walked off. they got home told me and I called them and they said she had an attitude and they haven't even started on our weed eater yet but it needs a new carb and it will now be at least $100. I said no and went and picked it up, bought $20 carb adj. tool set online (including shipping), googled how to, and fixed it in few mins by turning 2 screws."

"Terrible company. Possibly a scam. They attempted to sell me a part they didn't even have, and after waiting patiently for OVER A MONTH, I canceled my order. When calling them to confirm, they told me they never had the part to sell to me. What a joke!"

Lawn Tool Repair questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on mower type, labor, replacement part needs, and severity of the issue.

Whether to repair or replace your lawn mower depends on what is wrong with it and how long you have owned it. If your lawn mower is relatively new, ensuring you regularly service it will help keep it in good shape. There are issues that will cost hundreds of dollars to repair, such as the engine blowing or the lawn mower going over rocks. Many people go by the three-year rule and replace their lawn mower rather than do repairs after this time.

Lawnmowers require seasonal maintenance to continue working correctly. With routine maintenance, you can extend its life to the fullest, which is around 10 years for push mowers and 5-8 years for riding mowers. To keep your lawn mower working correctly, you’ll want to take the following steps at least once a year:

  • Replace the spark plug

  • Change the oil

  • Drain the fuel tank

  • Clean the mowing deck (ideally, after every mow)

  • Replace the air filter

  • Check the carburetor

  • Sharpen the blades

  • Fog the engine

  • Check the tires

If you keep it clean and sharp, your reel mower should last for about 10-20 years. In comparison, the lifespan of most self-propelled lawn mowers is about half as long as that.

Engine failure, clogged carburetors, dull blades, and electrical issues are common problems requiring service.
