Over an 8 year working relationship, Michael has proven to be extremely professional, reliable, fair, trustworthy, & very pleasant. He is also extremely fast & sets up & cleans up efficiently, unlike other Handymen that I've used in my past. Michael insists on signing his name with pride to every project he completes. His integrity & top-notch work astound me every time! I will only work with Michael in the future and would highly recommend him.

GREAT! Michael is a multi-talented man. All of the work was done on time in an extremely professional manner and at a very fair price. We've some more renovations coming up soon at the church and he will be the man!

Michael’s Maintenance is my go to company for any job! It is hard to find responsive, responsible and qualified individuals to take care of projects with precision. Michael quickly assembled my elliptical in 1/2 the time it was supposed to take. He also helped me configure my workout space so I didn’t have to set it up in the cold garage, where I initially was planning to set it up. Highly recommend!!

Job was quoted in March 2015, he got started in April. Told us the jobs would take 4 to 6 weeks. I added a couple of things to the original job so I expected 2 plus weeks to the job. The jobs were finished in late September! Poor workmanship on the tile job in the master bath. Poor finish work on the installed patio door, not painted completely. Screen doors installed on the patio have a gap in them that lets the bugs in and he did not come back to fix that. The major problem was with the installed patio door, it was an unusual size and had to be ordered special. Either he or the vendor did not get that order correct and they had to send me 2 different special made doors that were the incorrect size and we had to reorder the door. Those special made doors take weeks to get. Michael is a nice guy, but his organization and workmanship, at least in my case, was very poor. I can not recommend this guy.

UPDATE 4-3-16

Per my previous review........no corrections, I am not making this stuff up. Plus now the plumbing work done on my patio is leaking, the bugs can still get in through the gap left in the screen door, the tile work was not finished properly, the paint on the installed patio door was not completed and my time frame of when work started and was "finished" is spot on.

Michael sealed, caulked and grouted the shower tiles.  While waiting on the tiles to set he noticed a few holes and cracks in the bathroom and laundry room that needed spackled.  He fixed all the holes and cleaned up everything after he was finished.  Michael was prompt, courteous and professional.  I will use him in the future and will recommend him to others as well.

Response from Michael's Maintenance
"I Thank you for the work, I cut the job cost by over 50% to help you and you daughter, as I felt bad. You had an estimate over 2k. I came last minute and saved the day for only $500. In hopes you both could enjoy Christmas with beautiful lights. I would not be to help so many, if I worked for free. I offered to return, But will not come and work for free. Thanks for the review, God Bless"

Michael was punctual, polite and extremely capable. He assessed the job gave an estimate and went to work. His crew Austin and Jerry were as capable and conscientious as he was. They came, worked well, were very pleasant and tidied up before leaving for the day. We needed to add a few jobs as the the work went on and Michael was reasonable in his response and pricing. The work was done carefully and swiftly. We would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend or hire him again.

What impressed us was the reviews that he had on Angie's List.  Outstanding.  So we went with him. So far it's been excellent, the negotiation period and that stuff.  To be honest we had a mild disagreement on cost.  He didn't remember giving me a quote.  He came to the house and did the thorough analysis and evaluation, it was considerably more than the quote that he had given me which was a little bit upsetting.  But I think what he came up with eventually was a fair price.  I wouldn't want to hold that against him.  Really what he did was he did a quick look around the house, made notes about things that had to be done.  He agreed.  Then he called me up and said overall I think it's going to be this.  And then when he came out and did the on-site evaluation it was significantly more than, it was frustrating but I don't think it was unreasonable in a sense what he's asking.  It's hard to evaluate on that.  What I want to do is see the quality of his work.  If it matches the price that he gave me than we'll write him up.  The contractor himself has been really good.  That's the reason that when he came back with a higher price than what he gave me over the phone, after doing the thorough analysis it didn't bother me that much because his presentation and everything was really very good or we wouldn't have stayed with him.  He does exemplify trust and even as he goes around and looks at the house he saw things I didn't see.  I understand why there is a difference in cost.  He's very thorough and he even looks around and says I put this in my initial but I don't think it has to be done.  He said let me power wash these and I'll tell you whether the shutters need painting or not.  If the shutters come out nice clean then there is not need to do them again.  So things like that.  I think that's honest and legitimate.  He is very trustworthy.

Michael was on time for our appointment which involved installing a granite counter top and two splashes in our laundry room.  Local granite dealers either did not want to do a little job or priced it up 100% over normal granite pricing.  Had a fabricator in Stedman, NC  fabricate the top and splashes and we picked it up and had Michael's Maintenance do the install.  Saved over half of what the locals charged and could not have asked for a better worker than Michael and his crew.  They were GREAT!!!

Michael, returned all of my calls. He scheduled me promptly. He showed up exactly when he said he would come. Michael worked very quickly and efficiently. He does not waste a minute of anyone's time. Michael did go to secure some supplies to complete this job. My husband and I were very pleased with his work. We will use Michael in the future.

Great.  Except for a short delay in arrival, everything went smoothly.  Michael took an extra effort to not only install the bathroom fan, but to investigate (via the attic) to see if there were any other venting issues.  As it turns out, the vent to the fan was blocked with insulation, so just installing a new fan would not have fixed the problem.  I appreciated the thoroughness.  The fan works beautifully now.  I also liked the fact that Michael thinks through all angles to a repair/job, thus doing the most complete and successful work. The piping under the sink wasn't originally installed correctly, resulting in a leak.  Michael fixed that in a matter of minutes.  And the other smaller issues were thought out and completed - pronto.

There are two important criteria that I
have when hiring someone to work in my home. I want high quality
work but even more critical is that it is done by someone that I
trust in my home and around my children. Michael has total integrity
and ensures that everyone working for him adheres to the same high
standard. He was so kind to my children that my daughter asked,
“Can't we just keep finding jobs for Mr. Michael to do so he
doesn't have to leave?” I would recommend him on both counts
without hesitation.
Michael's business card describes him
as a craftsman and that is what he aims to be. He has great
attention to detail and will work long and hard to ensure that both
he and the customer are satisfied with the results. Often his
standards were higher than mine.
He is easy to work with. He is
flexible and keeps an amazingly clean work site. He is confident,
but not to the point of arrogance – he is willing to learn and
consult references to ensure that everything is done correctly and
well.
We bought an older house that needs
considerable TLC. Two of the most pressing jobs were remodeling the
two full bathrooms. The first bathroom to be done was the hall bath.
This required removing the existing walk in shower, opening up and
reworking the skylight, replacing the toilet, replacing the vanity
countertop, moving the closet opening from the bathroom to the hall,
installing a new bathtub and shower, tiling the floor and finishing
details such as drywall work, trim, beadboard, paint and installing a
towel warmer. The results were so complete that it was impossible to
recognize the former bathroom in the new space.
Michael then moved to the master
bathroom. He removed a large jetted tub, shower walls and toilet.
He discovered rotted floors and so rebuilt the bathroom from the
floors up. He moved the toilet, built a European shower, installed a
new vanity and tiled the floor. In the adjoining space, he removed a
vanity and replaced it with a kitchenette type area with a sink,
cabinets and minifridge. He painted the master bedroom. The space
was once again completely transformed from what it had been. A
friend who saw it said, “Wow what a spa space!”
While he was here to do the bathrooms,
Michael also completed several smaller jobs that included replacing a
blown outdoor faucet, adjusting kitchen cabinetry to fit a new
refrigerator, patching a roof leak, replacing the toilet in the half
bath and moving the dryer exhaust.
I have in the past done similar work
myself, but with children, the projects needed to be done quickly.
Michael fit us into his schedule and his price was very fair for the
detail of the work done. He invited my constant critique and didn't
mind my frequent questions. His goal was to make my vision a reality
rather than imposing his own ideas, but the suggestions that he
offered were thoughtful and worthwhile. (He even went above and
beyond to find the granite top for our vanity for less than we had
been willing to pay for a laminate top.)
One additional note... Michael builds a
relationship with his customers. He doesn't disappear after a job is
completed, but rather is available to answer questions and support
his work.

Michael came to give us an estimate - he showed up on time, understood our needs clearly and even noticed a fire hazard that had been missed by  our home inspector.  He called the next day with a quote and availability to get the job done quickly.
Because of rain/snow, Michael delayed the job 2 days to ensure that the quality was high (to avoid paint running in the high humidity.) When it was dry, he came early and worked solidly until the job was done well.  His greatest concern was that I be pleased with the results and we were!
Not only did Michael do great work, but he was kind to my children.  As I got to know Michael a little bit, I am even more confident that he will do a great job with whatever projects we are unable to do ourselves and seek his help on.
I would highly recommend him and look forward to working with him again.

I was in a jam and needed a roof finished on a shed.  It was a project in progress he jumped in and finished it even though it was not the ideal situation. He was quick and professional talked me though all pro and cons we came up with great solutions. So we are going to use him again.  Great with communication and cleaned up.

I called Michael and he was to give us an estimate on Friday morning.  He arrived ready to do the work.  He and his assistant looked at the work to be done and Michael gave me an estimate. I approved the work.   Then they headed to Lowe's for lumber and supplies.

When they completed the work, Michael reduced the estimate by $25.
My husband and I were completely satisfied with the work.

Their service experience was outstanding.  I am in Florida, he is there, and I am extremely pleased.  He is still in contact with me constantly.  He shows and sends me photos constantly.  He also keeps me appraised of the situation constantly; at least daily if not several times a day.  If something is over his head he tells me that it is over his head, but he will contact 2 or 3 people, recommend, and get the best price for me.  Our rental house ended up being taken over by crack heads and they pretty much destroyed our house.  So he is bringing it up to code for one thing because it was built in 1953.  He is putting in a new ceiling, having the bathtub redone, and taking out the things around the bathtub.  I was going to replace the whole bathtub, but he said he could go in there, remove the caulking, have someone come in. and re-enamel it; and that would actually be cheaper for me.  It saves me $300.  He was very conscientious about saving money and doing a better job.  He redid the ceilings; I had acoustic tiles in the whole house.  He tore them down.  The first price I had from someone else who is not on Angie's List incidentally, that’s why I went to Angie's List.  He wanted $5000 just to redo the ceiling tiles in the whole house.  He said they would have to redo the whole insulation in the attic.  I called Michael and he said that the insulation in the attic had nothing to do with the acoustic tiles in the ceiling.  He tore down all the acoustic tiles, put in drywall, and redid all the drywalls in the whole house everywhere that the crack heads had taken walls off and crack holes in the walls.  He redid a 25-foot long wall and a regular 10-foot ceiling for less than $5000.  The price was amazing for that.  He asked about the type of ceiling I wanted including textured finish.  He again saved me $300 by doing that.  He said it was more stylish and would last longer.  He is very conscientious about keeping my budget where I had told him.  I told him that I did not want the cheapest product out there, but I would go for the middle of the range product.  I haven’t given him a fixed budget, but I told him that I wanted something durable, but I should be able to live in when my husband retires.  We had a pull-down attic stairs and it was hanging ajar.  I wanted to buy a whole new pull-down unit.  I think he is a northerner so he is kind of a little abrupt, which is just his style which was fine.  You need that from a business man sometimes.  He said that for less than $5 in truth, he would remove that string, screw that up, finish it up, paint it, and make it look real nice.  He said that I didn’t need tenants in my attic and he would update my shed, put on secure doors, weather-proof it completely, and they can store their stuff there.  He said they would walk around up there and step right through my brand new ceiling.  Everything has been great.  He sends terrific and clear pictures.  He told me that the water heater is by the electrical box, we can't have that, and it's been there since the house was built.  He had it moved to the other side of the laundry room and it is a done deal.  He is totally on top of things.  People will not believe the difference after what he has done.
********************************************************
UPDATE!!!!

The work he did was very good but he disappeared when the job was 99.9% complete.  He had been paid in full and could not take a few minutes to even return the house keys to us. His inaction cost us an additional $2,000 (had to hire someone else to complete work he had already been paid to do AND it cost us at least one month rent on the house).

OVERALL: Dissatisfied with his character. If you have time to babysit him AND, most importantly, DO NOT PAY IN FULL UNTIL COMPLETION I would guess he would be very good.  I will not take a chance with him again.

Quality of work: VERY GOOD
Follow through till completion: FAIL
