"We couldn't be more happy. They met with us prior to beginning to make sure the project was planned properly. They removed I our old deck and designed our new one which is great. We are very pleased. We highly recommend them. Great company. Great staff!"

"Jesse Summerlin and his crew were wonderful. On time, polite, cleaned everything up and did a fantastic job. This was a limited repair but I will call him soon to redo the rest of the deck with confidence that I will get an exceptional job. Thank you Jesse and crew!"

Small jobs welcome

"Tony was very honest about the price, the time it would take, and the fact that they would clean it all up. Everything went really well. They took down 4 huge maples, some stuck in the electric lines with no problem."

"Great. The quote was in the middle. The project started quickly. There was a crew working every day that wasn't raining. They pressure washed the house, caulked extensively, re-nailed a few boards, and put on two coats of stain. They left the site clean. Will definitely hire again when we need painting."

"Trying to do a large Renovation of a mountain house in Waynesville when we live in Florida isn't a easy task unless you have the right people helping - From the first call and through the first project and on to the second and third, Tomas was very easy to work with and reliable - Came when he said he would - called when he had questions - shared pictures along the way - made helpful suggestions - and all affordable even for the "mountain prices" ! When I thought I needed gutters cleaned - he looked - sent a pic and when I said lets do it - it was done that day. My wife is looking for the next project she can hire him for - Would highly recommend"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

The average cost to professionally clean or pressure wash a deck is around $150, with prices typically ranging from $100 to $600. Several factors influence the final price, including the deck's size, material, condition, and how long it has been since its last cleaning. For a smaller deck of about 300 square feet, you might pay around $100. For a larger deck of 1,000 square feet or more, the cost could be closer to $300 to $400. Decks that are very dirty or haven't been cleaned in years may require more time and special detergents, which will increase the price. The deck's material also plays a role. Wood decks often cost more to clean because they require a gentle power washing technique to avoid damage. Composite decks are typically less expensive to clean, and cleaning a metal deck may cost around $100.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Yes, you can build a deck over your outdoor HVAC unit, but you need to leave at least 5 feet of vertical clearance above the unit. If you don’t want your deck to be that high off the ground, you could build a floating deck in another part of your yard—again, as long as you leave at least 4 feet of horizontal space between the deck and your AC unit.

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.
