"Went fine; I'm writing this more than a year later--apologies--so I don't recall the name of the provider. He was very helpful with good practical pointers about longevity for the toilets (how to read flow of incoming water), frequency for flushing the hot water heater, where to turn off the water in a crisis, turning it off at the street--and what tools to have, among other tips. Also the critters to watch out for--black widows, for one, when lifting the meter cover.
Our family has used Triangle Plumbing and Backflow for a variety of tasks, from installing this current hot water heater, to replacing old high-water-usage toilets w/ Totos at my parents' home. They're close by and good to work with. They are our go-to plumber.

"Sofia contacted me within an hour of my request and came out late Saturday afternoon to diagnose the problem. We had a serious leak in our water main pipe. Sofia and her team hand dug the trench for the new pipe to preserve our landscaping. The work was completed quickly and professionally at a reasonable cost. We highly recommend Sofia and will hire again."

"We had a great experience with Water Heater Experts. We contacted them a year before we actually had the work done and John was extremely knowledgeable about water quality and water heaters. Once we needed a new water heater he was quick in responding and the work was done in a day. We went with a tankless and he was helpful with tips on how to use it and be efficient with the recirculating. I am extremely happy and pleased and already enjoying hot water in 10 seconds versus the 1.5-2 minutes we used to wait!"

"If I could give more stars I would!! Billy and his team are knowledgeable, fast, kind and affordable. They know what they are doing and truly care about the work that they do. We have an older home and have had quite a few plumbing issues in the past, but thanks to Appius plumbing I don't worry about ever having another plumbing issue again. They were able to replace all of our old pipes under the house, remove and install a new water heater, and fix our outside faucets in less than a day! Appius plumbing is the real deal. I promise you will not regret hiring them!"

My first contact with Alpine was with the owner, David Breed.  He guided me through a decision-making process in which I was initially planning to have additional coolant added to my systems in preparation for summer temperatures.  Upon realizing that my previous HVAC services had simply been applying 'bandaids' over the past 8 years, David offered a detailed overview of my options.

David scheduled Larry to come to my home and perform a review of my current systems.  Larry's punctuality, communication and professionalism was evident immediately.  After his review, he spent the necessary time to discuss my options.  At no time did I feel pressured into any particular price point.  Larry asked specific questions to assist me in making the best choices for me and my home.  I chose Amana-brand units - one 3.5-ton and one split-system 4-ton.

Laura King, the Install Coordinator, contacted me within hours of Larry's review, to schedule installation.  She was pleasant, timey and professional.

The crew arrived promptly as scheduled.  Matt, Eddy and Jeremy were top notch!!  They were professional, polite and incredibly mindful of minimizing disruption and mess.  They worked steadily for 3 days in heat, humidity and dirty conditions (attic and crawl space), yet they always had a smile.  They took time to explain the new systems and thermostats.

This company exudes customer service.  Yes, it was costly, but also an investment.  Alpine sets the example others should follow from start to finish!!  I could not be more pleased with the entire experience.

"Very hard workers, renovated both bathrooms from plumbing to shower doors and trim. It looks great. We have 26year old house and apparently 15 years ago the plumbing was recalled due to failures. Justin Shane changed plumbing in crawlspace to all lines into the house and outside spickets. Found out during this process that our hot water heater was rusting and was replaced. We had bath walls and vanity damaged and had to be returned and replaced. This put us behind and Lowes never offered to deliver any of the products that had to be returned. Justin took items back and got replacements. The return process took over an hour each time due to Lowes unorganized process. There was 5 items damaged when we got back here with them. Justin worked late several nights in order to keep on schedule due to Lowes terrible quality control. All in all, Justin did a great job and we would hire him again."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Replacing a toilet costs between $275 and $480 in most cases, and the average cost sits around $375. This includes removing the old toilet and installing the new toilet. Your price could be significantly higher if you invest in a high-quality brand, need the replacement done on an emergency basis, or replace your toilet as a part of a larger bathroom remodel that demands additional work.

No, you can’t convert a gravity-flush toilet to a pressure-assist toilet. Pressure-assist toilets include a tank-within-the-tank, and a standard gravity-flush toilet doesn’t have a capability to include the additional tank. If you want the benefits of a pressure-assist toilet, you’ll have to make the investment in a new one.

Installation typically takes 1-2 hours. Repairs may require additional time, depending on the issue.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

You generally cannot replace a 10-inch rough-in toilet with a 12-inch model without making significant plumbing updates. A 12-inch rough-in toilet will not fit a 10-inch rough-in space because the floor drain is in the wrong position. To accommodate the larger toilet, you would need to move the drainpipe, which could cost between $0.75 and $30 per linear foot, plus labor. In most cases, it is more cost-effective and simpler to purchase a new 10-inch rough-in toilet. However, it is possible to install a 10-inch rough-in toilet in a 12-inch space by using a longer connector.
