"Shirley is awesome. She came out months earlier and gave us an estimate. We had to wait on a bank loan before we could give her the ok to do the work. She was very patience with us. Her son and crew came out. They installed 23 windows. It took them two days and they worked more than a full day each day. They were onsite for a good 12 hours each day. They cleaned up after themselves. The windows are great. We noticed an instant change in our heating bill and our cooling bill has been way lower than last year (granted, it hasn't been as hot as last yeat), but the unit doesn't work as much even on hot days. They were friendly, polite and a pleasure to work with. I will definitely use them again.

"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

There is no blanket number when it comes to glass thickness for soundproofing. Thicker glass does help reduce noise, but it’s only part of the solution. Most single-pane windows use glass that’s ⅛” to ¼” thick. While increasing the thickness can cut down on sound, the real noise-blocking power comes from stacking layers. Double—and triple-pane windows are far more effective for soundproofing. The combination of mass and separation breaks up sound waves better than thick glass could on its own.

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

Using caulk is one of the simplest and most recommended methods to finish glass tile edges. It creates an elegant seam between the glass tile and the adjacent area, along with a waterproof seal. With this method, you want to use a caulk color that matches the grout and, along with the grout, compliments the tile. Make sure the caulk line is smooth and even. Alternatively, you can use a bullnose or tile trimming to edge, however, that will also require caulk to seal.

It can be. While not all smart glass comes soundproof, you can buy smart glass made specifically to be soundproof.

Shower doors can shatter on their own in rare cases. Glass shower doors are manufactured to high standards to ensure their durability. If you’d prefer a shower door that’s less likely to break, opt for laminated glass rather than tempered glass. If you have glass shower doors, inspect them regularly. Check that all the hardware is in good shape and the glass has no chips or cracks.
