"Needed fencing installed to keep groundhogs from taking up residence under our deck. Brady came up with a creative and complete solution that made sure the varmints were out and would not return. Would use again."

"Mark did an excellent job. He cares about his work and wants to make sure you are satisfied. While providing and estimate he took note of a gutter that needed to be replaced and gave me an excellent price. I asked about a chimney cap and he came back to do that as well. I was more than pleased with the services provided and would definitely hire again!"

"Stuart showed up when he said he would.  Went on the roof... came back down - reported what needed to be done.  Replaced the rubber thingys that day.  all was good.  Thank You  (Now with that said.. I'm waiting for a really good rain to make sure the leak is fixed but... I'm pretty confident it will be.)

"Anna, Rosie and Rene were AMAZING! We reached out for a deep clean prior to a visit from our family the next week and Anna contacted us within a few minutes. We also received a text reminder prior to our appointment confirming the time and date. The team showed up on time, worked diligently and were very professional. Not to mention that they are so courteous and friendly! Our home looks beautiful!! You can see the pride they put in their work. We are delighted with our experience and we’ll be scheduling for regular cleanings. We would definitely recommend their service!"

"The plans were drawn for two bathroom renovations. Just prior to starting the renovation our (not planned) third bath shower started leaking through the bedroom ceiling below. Contacting Marc Chavaree of our problem he assigned our project manager to the task, arriving promptly to access the situation. In short order they had the shower completely gutted and installed a new shower pan, wall with tile, tile floor, and repair of ceiling in bedroom below. This untimely event turned out to be an awesome top notch job that was accomplished in approximately two weeks. Immediately following the other two bathrooms were completely gutted. The first bathroom had new tub and surround, toilet, vent fan, vanity with granite top, and tile floor. The second bathroom had new walls installed in tub area with tile from tub to ceiling, new tile floor with tile extending up wall four feet throughout the bath, and new tub and toilet. A custom wall cabinet was made and a vanity with granite top was installed. The foyer area outside of the bath also had a makeover with the doorways. The crew was very professional, courteous, and always kept area cleaned up. The tile installers were very professional and gladly asked our advice on tile pattern layout. The carpenter, Daniel, is a master craftsman, he made the difference when work was seemingly difficult and made it look easy, he is very attentive to details. We did have a slight issue with the project manager though, we felt he wasn't communicating well with us or the crew on certain details. Once we addressed it with Marc Chavaree, the issue was quickly resolved to our satisfaction. Overall we are very happy with the transformation of our bathrooms, in essence it makes us feel as though we are in a 5-star hotel. We appreciate the high standards of service that Accent Renovations provided and would recommend Accent Renovations to others and we would use them again.

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Regular cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners helps prevent buildup and maintains clarity.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.
