"So happy that I accepted A to Z's bid to renovate the interior of an older home that had been rented out for 12+ years. Some walls needed replacing, floor and sub-floor needed to be replaced, trim needed fixing, drywall need repairing and paneling replaced. Some paneling and drywall needed replacement on entire walls and ceilings needed repair and painting as well. Hamado's team were punctual every day and worked through the weekends to meet deadline, even as more things were discovered. They had to work around plumber and plumbing issues and were very professional, nice to work with and did an amazing job. The house looks new! I will use them again as I find new projects or any additional repairs to the property."

"I employed the Professional Handyman over the phone in another city. I waited to see the finished work before paying the balance of the contract. I am pleased with the work ad also with the rapidity with which the job was completed. The task was to replaster a bedroom ceiling that had been damaged by water and then to paint it. I didn't explore pricing pricing before accepting the contract. The work included sheet rock patch. Cut drywall. Fix repair drywall sparkle; remove popcorn ceiling. Clean up mess that includes moving furniture. Paint ceiling white. Job was completed in 24 hours. Cost was $1040.81. I am very satisfied with results. Would recommend Professional Handyman to others. Would like feedback re: how reasonable cost is."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

You can find chemical and naturally derived paint thinners to remove paint without as much sanding. A heat gun or pressure washer can also remove paint from large areas. However, sanding is often the best way to remove the final bits of paint that remain on the surface.

The easiest and fastest way to remove paint from a surface is to use a chemical paint stripper to loosen the paint and then remove the paint using a paint scraper. You can also speed up the process by making the area as accessible as possible, which could include removing window sashes or taking doors off the hinges.

Yes, a magic eraser can remove candle wax. You can use it to remove all the candle wax from start to finish. Another option is to remove all large clumps with a dull knife and then pull out your magic eraser to finish the job. However, while the results can be impressive, a magic eraser shouldn’t be used on all surfaces since it can potentially damage them. If you try this method, test a small, hidden spot first and proceed cautiously.

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.

If you recently splashed paint on the wrong area of a wooden object, remove it with a solvent or caustic paint stripper. Some paint that has yet to dry may be removable by hand with coarse sandpaper or a plastic scraper. Another trick for removing dried-on paint is rubbing a dab of nail polish remover on the paint to remove it, but avoid touching the bare wood surface.
