I am new to the Lexington, NC area recently relocating from Florida. While living in Florida I worked exclusively for a top interior decorator. I had the opportunity to work for many sports figures and celebrities. One man operation, never use subcontractors. Started remodeling at 10 years old (47 years experience) working at the time with my dad and grandfather remodeling victorian homes. There is not much I can not fix or repair around a house. I am a perfectionist and take great pride in every job I do (large or small). I believe in a clean work area and never leave a mess at the end of the day. Your satisfaction is gauranteed.

"August 20, 2019 work started by plumber showing up and breaking bathtub out with sledge hammer. Several days past and no one showed up to work. We were told job would take 2-3 weeks to complete. We called and they were under impression that we had another full bathroom, we don't. They temporarily installed a bathtub to use in bathroom being remodeled. The work slowly progressed on bathroom with people randomly showing up (after we called) and very little work getting done. There were a lot of excuses and things like vanity and linen closet being ordered in wrong color. The quality of the work left a lot to be desired and I had to watch everything being done cause it did not seem like some of the workers had much experience, I was told numerous times that stuff like floor repairs and installation of blocking for safety grab handles really don't matter because they will be covered up. The job was never finished and they will not return calls or emails. We have no lights or fan, no safety grab handles, no entry door, no handles on cabinets and drawers, no shower curtain rod. It's over a year since started and not done. Tub was installed twice and is not level, linen cabinet is crooked, toilet is crooked, since tub isn't level first row of tile gets narrower from wall to edge of tub, valve for shower is crooked, finish trim work is not done. The sheetrock is not a quality job and will require some rework to look right. The final painting has not been done, the mirror has not been made and installed. The light switches, power outlets, and 2 recessed light and fan light combo have not been installed (we do have unit in our possession). I was going to have them installed a new window which I purchased but after seeing quality of work decided to do it myself. The backwall of shower had to have double cement board because no one took into consideration thickness off tub flange. I could go on and on. I had a crappy bathroom for 27 years and after hiring Gil Sheets I still have a crappy unfinished bathroom."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

While there are many benefits to installing bamboo flooring, there are also a few disadvantages to consider before choosing this type of flooring. Bamboo has fewer color options than wood, laminate, or vinyl flooring, and it can be more vulnerable to moisture.

Carpet installers use furniture sliders or blankets to protect your furniture during the installation process. They handle each piece with care to minimize the risk of damage. Additionally, they may employ techniques such as lifting and shifting furniture rather than dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches or other marks. If you have particularly delicate or heavy items that need to be moved, discuss special handling with the installers beforehand.

Technically, you can install carpet without padding. While skipping the padding can help you save on the project, it will make the carpet less comfortable and show uneven spots or imperfections in the subfloor. Because carpet padding protects the back of the carpet from wear, a carpet without padding can wear out faster than one with it. Carpet padding also cuts down on noise, so forgoing it can affect the acoustics in the room.

You might be wondering, “Is laminate flooring toxic?” The product does contain formaldehyde, which is found in the resins used to bind the wood fibers together. But the chance of overexposure and adverse reactions, such as allergy- or asthma-like symptoms, is low unless you are exposed to formaldehyde in other places, i.e., if you work with formaldehyde regularly outside the home. Keep in mind, too, that many household products have the potential to pose a health hazard, such as cleaning products.

Ceramic tile is the best flooring for radiant heat systems—and, in particular, radiant bathroom flooring—because it conducts and retains heat well. Plus, it’s inexpensive, available in many colors and sizes, easy to install, and waterproof. Other types of flooring that work nicely with radiant heat systems include laminate, engineered wood, and vinyl.
