"Highly recommended! They thoroughly scraped and painted our porch railings and window trim. They also took care of some minor repairs to the railings. The finished work looks great."

Small jobs welcome

"I have engaged Razor Edge to paint my interior. It is quite a fete; but I am sure they can handle it beautifully. I was very impressed with them when they came to do an estimate. I look forward to working with them & feel they will do an excellent job. They are fair, honest & very user friendly ."

"Hamado is a rare find for a contractor. He is honest, thorough, and leaves the repair looking as if the damage never happened. I am a single female homeowner who stepped on a ceiling panel while changing out my insulation in the attic. The long side of a whole panel popped open. The panel needed to be drilled into the joists again and popcorn ceiling reapplied. Oh my Lord did other contractors try to take me for a ride...everything up to my whole ceiling needing to be replaced. Hamado was respectful (no contractor theatrics that my house needed to be replaced), assessed the damage fairly, and gave me a unbelievable fair quote. He showed up on time on the workday and made the ceiling look as if I never stepped on it. Beautiful work. And Angela who handled his quotes and booking with me was a total professional. This is a team you can trust...will be definitely be going to them the next time I screw up my house during one of my genius DIYs."

"I would highly recommend this business.  We had them come and restain the deck and at first just powerwash the house.  They scheduled the work right away.  After doing the pressure washing, there were some areas with paint chips under the soffit.  Mike offered to repaint those for free.  During this, they noticed areas of the soffit that were rotten, so we had them repair those areas of the wood.  They also fixed a few screens that were damaged during the pressure washing for free.
Everything turned out great, and we are very happy we had this work done.  Mike and Crystal are very professional and easy to work with.  I will be having them do some more work on our house in the near future.

"Jeff showed up on time and did his work professionally. He recommended replacing 4 vent covers due to splitting or rotting and gave me an estimate for that. He was gentlemanly and well-informed, didn't try to upsell things that weren't needed. I was aware of the deteriorating vent flanges because I had recently had my chimney cover replaced and the pro who did that notified me of their condition. I felt like Mighty Hands did what they were contracted to do in a way that made me confident of their work."

"Productions Unlimited has done interior painting as well as exterior stucco painting for me. Michael is a superior Painter with years of experience. He knows what he is talking about, and will share his knowledge and experience with paint products and application processes. This was very important to me, as he fully explained what this desert environment will do to low quality paint or improper methods. His workmanship is of superior quality, and his prices were very reasonable. He shows up when he says he will, gets the job done efficiently and when promised."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. If you don’t give the deck proper seasoning time before staining, the stain can lock in any lingering moisture and cause mold, rot, and other moisture issues down the road. Give the wood at least four to eight weeks to season before you stain.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Hiring a contractor or professional deck refinisher is the best way to ensure your deck is properly stained. They have the expertise, tools, and supplies to do the job quickly and efficiently. However, staining a deck is a manageable task for most homeowners, and doing the job yourself can save money. Just keep in mind that DIY staining is a long process requiring physical strain, so it may not be the best option for everyone.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

The need for a topcoat on a painted deck depends on various factors, primarily the type of paint used and your desired level of protection. Many premium deck paint formulations are self-sealing, eliminating the necessity for an additional topcoat. These paints often have built-in additives that substantially protect against moisture, UV rays, and everyday wear and tear.
