"Chad & JJ spent 2 weeks with us on a hall bath total remodel, window and sliding door replacement. The whole experience from start to finish was worthy of 10 stars!!! From meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, outstanding advice and input on things we never thought of, very reasonable pricing and such up beat personality even when confronted with a few unexpected surprises..just a pleasure to work with them both. They finished on time and each day when they left I was amazed at how clean everything was even after cutting a window in the shower wall and having to jack hammer concrete in the shower floor. We can't wait to have them start our kitchen remodel project. You will not be disappointed ..get ready to love your home again!"

"I needed a quality painter to paint the ceilings in my new home prior to move in. I asked if they could complete the work in a 2 week window and Aztec gladly accommodated my request. They came in while I was out of town and did an excellent job even though they had to cover a dark tan color with white. The job only took 2 coats as Ian predicted and it looks great. Ian kept in touch every step of the way. I will call them again for my next big job."

Customers say: Quick response

"thanks to this site, I called Greater Wilm. Structure about a brick house I was buying that had cracked brick and unlevel floors. I assumed I would only (!) need to have that section of the home jacked up and the foundation repaired. Brian returned my call quickly, and met me and my realtor at the house (was a 45 min. drive for him) to give me his opinion and verbal price quote. Many contractors/carpenters would have just focused on the project and the money involved, but Brian wanted to see WHY the house had sunk. He pointed out the major structure issues with the tresses in the attic, joists, as well as other red flags, that would cause problems later. He's a master carpenter and his knowledge, experience (and sense of humor!) was refreshing and valuable. After meeting with him I decided to pull my accepted offer on the home and feel I have saved myself untold amounts of money, stress and frustration. I will definately be hiring this company in the future."

"We have long wanted to add on to our house, almost since the day we moved in 14 years ago. The kitchen and living room were just too small to entertain or even have a family meal without bumping into the walls or windows. Our neighbors recommended Chad Richmond, as they had been more than pleased with the work he had done for them in their kitchen. When we met with him, we were immediately impressed with his professionalism and his friendly demeanor. We committed to having plans drawn up, which was the basis for the cost estimate. We liked the design, and the price seemed fair, so we went ahead. It was a lot of fun to see the addition develop over the next few months. First Chad's team put in the foundation, which was far more elaborate and sturdy than we had expected. Then the flooring, and again we were impressed with the quality of the construction and the materials. Then the walls - there are more studs in that room than empty space, I swear - and the roof. The windows and sliding doors are really first rate - our energy bills have actually gone down despite the extra 600 square feet of living space. The 20 x 12' deck adjoining the addition is perfect and again made extraordinarily well, with massive concrete footings. In all, it's just the way I would have made it, if I had the skill and about 4 years to work on it. We certainly feel that we got our money's worth. We love our new space. I've been working from home these last 3 months, and I'm sure I would've been climbing the walls in our former space. But now, I've finally got a corner office with windows, and I can watch our fountain out one and the bird bath out of the other while I'm logged on. And it's well enough constructed that I think we'll stay here when the next hurricane comes. We're very pleased to give Chad and JJ our very highest recommendation. Robert C. Moore Sherry O'Daniell"

"Chester was great to work with, very helpful keeping me on budget and on schedule. He used vendors I had used before so I knew quality of their products. I knew what I liked so that moved fairly quickly. Had to have functional bathroom for Christmas so he made sure that happened. They used drop clothes through the house during whole process.
We had a couple of hang ups . The size tile on the walls was as large as the floor tiles. The bathroom is narrow . In places tile was not as flat as I would have liked, because of the size when they are baked they have cupping. A smaller tile wouldn't have done that. Larger format looks great. The other was where electrician installed fixtures over the sinks too low for glass trim and mirrors chosen. Decided I didn't want lights any higher so mirror change was answer which Chester did on New Years day.
As a widow it was comfortable having Chester do all the scheduling ,discuss process, and answer my numerous questions. I do have a have questions about New Hanover 's shortage of inspectors!

"The service turned out fine. There were extra fees for the tile we picked out. The fee was reasonable for what we needed. I was never home while they were doing the service but my wife was home. She seemed to like the technicians who came out. Scheduling was a little tough and it took them a little longer to get out than I had hoped."

FAQs for house leveling projects in Hampstead, NC

One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.

Typically, it’s more affordable to buy an existing home than it is to build a new one. New construction loan interest rates tend to be higher than interest rates for traditional mortgages. Additionally, the cost of materials is likely higher when building a new home than it was when an existing home was built (unless it’s a very new one). You’re also paying for all new appliances, finishes, permits, inspections, and connections for water, gas, and electricity.

The most common first signs of foundation issues include:

  • Cracks in the foundation walls that grow

  • Signs of moisture or water leaking through cracks in the foundation

  • Standing water in the basement

  • Sagging floors or walls

  • Cracked walls in upper floors

  • Doors and windows that don’t close properly anymore

Foundation repairs cost about $5,000, on average. Typically, prices range from $2,200 to $7,800, depending on the type and extent of repairs needed. Cost factors include foundation type, home size, soil stability, accessibility, and the ultimate cause of the problem and what methods and materials are required to fix it.

If you’re noticing signs of foundation issues, the first step to fixing a foundation problem is to hire a foundation repair inspector. They will determine the problem, the cause, and the severity before recommending a course of action to repair the foundation. The method for fixing foundation problems depends on the problem and what options are available. A few possible solutions include:

  • Epoxy injections

  • Mudjacking

  • Piers made of steel or concrete

  • Jacks

  • Hydraulic piers

  • Carbon or steel reinforcement strips

  • Waterproofing materials
