Customers say: Super punctual

"We have lived in our home for 30+ years. When we bought our home, we knew we did not like the Popcorn Finish on the ceilings and agreed to immediately put it on our redo, update, fix-it list. Through the years there have been many redos, updates, and fix-its that always seemed to push the ceilings redo to the bottom of the list. It finally became a necessity in December 2021 when, with the development of cracks in the ceiling, we could no longer put it off. Now, no one likes to spend money on some home improvement projects. And redoing popcorn ceilings to make them have a smooth finish might be the number project on which we DON’T want to spend money. Maybe that’s why it was always pushed down our list. Besides, who looks at ceilings? Well, WE DO! Homeowners want the aesthetics of the ceilings of their home to be nice and smooth, NOT popcornny! The several thousand dollars we spent for this update was probably the best money we have spent on our home in these past thirty years. Oh, the difference it has made!!! The aesthetics of our ceilings are far more than nice, they are absolutely beautiful! If you are sitting on the fence trying to decide on having the same done in your home, we would encourage you to jump on over and get it done! And, even more, we encourage you to contact Guy at G&G Drywall to have him and his co-workers do your project. Guy is a very pleasant gentleman who is honest, hard-working, true to his word, and very Godly. He is easy going and will listen to your concerns. He never hesitated to work with us to move the positions of two ceiling fans in our home. He aims to leave every customer with his best work. He did with our project! Along with his co-workers, Dexter and Jeremy, these gentlemen are honest, hard-working, professional, and are the most polite men we have had to work in our home. We never felt any trepidation having them in our home or leaving them here to work without one of us being present. It took G&G Drywall six days to complete the project of replacing 85% of the ceilings in our home. The team arrived at the time they said they would and worked seemingly nonstop everyday. They took great care to protect furniture and other non-movable items in our home. They covered the walls with plastic and the floors with cloth to help minimize dust cleanup. At the end of each work day the team cleaned and left the house as livable as possible. And a bonus, we were able to stay nights in our home! This might not be the same for someone who has a low tolerance for drywall dust. We enthusiastically and wholeheartedly recommend G&G Drywall to work for you. Their work is impeccable. What are you waiting for? Go ahead, call Guy at G&G Drywall now!"

"Todd was initially hired on a trial basis for 4 to 8 hours and was so indispensable, ended up working several months. He painted the majority of the interior and exterior of my home, pressure washed the exterior, tiled the kitchen backsplash, replaced patio tiles, patched drywall, painted the kitchen cabinets and the list just goes on and on. Todd is highly skilled — and is the first person I reach out to whenever I have a new home project."

"Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

If you don’t have studs in the area where you want to install your TV mount, you may still be able to install a TV mount on drywall. The easiest way to install a mount on drywall is by using drywall anchors—but not just any plastic anchors. Choose molly bolts or toggle anchors, which have a weight capacity of around 50 pounds. For added support, consider pairing drywall anchors with a wall mounting plate. Extra heavy TVs may need to be mounted via the ceiling joists or beams.

Ceiling-mounted curtains won’t damage the ceiling if they’re installed properly. Using the right anchors or securing the brackets into joists will ensure the curtain weight is properly supported and prevent damage. However, overtightening screws, using weak anchors, or repeatedly removing and reinstalling hardware in the same spot can cause cracking or sagging over time. In that case, you might have to call a pro for ceiling repair.
