"We had an excellent experience with Genesis Drywall! They patched and repaired our walls, repainted all walls, trim, and doors, and painted the ceilings in two rooms. Their prep work, attention to detail, and finished work were excellent. We were so pleased that we hired them directly for an additional fireplace project. They completed all prep work, the mantle and faux stone, helped us compare material options and costs, and even mounted our TV. The fireplace turned out beautifully! Genesis Drywall was reasonably priced, dependable, professional, and great to work with. Excellent quality and service—we would absolutely hire them again and highly recommend them!"

"They did a great job on a drywall repair on the ceiling. Would recommend again, although they did initially quote me way too high of a price before coming down when I mentioned others would do it for cheaper."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.

Through expert matching of texture and paint for an invisible repair.

The best tool for cutting a hole in drywall is a drywall saw. Its serrated blade and ergonomic design make it efficient for both straight cuts and more intricate shapes, ensuring clean and precise results in various drywall cutting applications.

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.
