Marlin Wastewater Services was established in 1968 by Marlin and Dorothy Kerr who relocated to the Sandhills in the early 80's to stay open year round and avoid the harsh winters of Northern Michigan. Marlin's son Jeff and his wife Christine decided to keep the business in the family and took over operations in the mid 90's to give Marlin and Dorothy some much deserved time to travel and enjoy their retirement. Jeff and Christine continue to run the show today and have been blessed to build their business thanks to fantastic clients and a supportive community. We can not thank you enough for your support and look forward to servicing your homes & businesses and seeing your faces for years to come. Additional DBA - Marlins Plumbing Septic, Marlin's Service Inc, Family owned & operated.

"There was little to no communication about when they were coming and when the results would be done. The people who answered the phones were rude and did not answer the questions that were asked to them."

"Our neighbor in the condo below ours reported water leaking into the ceiling of her kitchen. We contacted RotoRooter Fayetteville (aka Kowkowski Plumbing) to detect and repair the source of the leak. Jay Jackson arrived (late) on 6/16/2022. He inspected our neighbor's kitchen ceiling as well as every plumbing fixture in our unit (kitchen sink, dishwasher, all of the bathroom fixtures and connections in the laundry room). He could not find any standing water or evidence of a leak in our condo so he contacted his office for additional assistance. His supervisor and additional technicians responded. After reviewing the situation they decided the only way to find the leak would be to: "remove ceiling in downstairs apt to find leak from apt above". It was the end of the day and we were told that before any work could/would be done they required a deposit of $2500 up front. Work would not begin until the following afternoon (6/17/22) at the earliest. When Jay Jackson arrived on that date he wanted me to sign an open ended contract with multiple blank (incomplete) sections that referred to binding terms on a water mitigation agreement (supposedly attached). The mitigation agreement had never been proposed, discussed or reviewed. It was not attached nor was one available. Jay Jackson could not answer any questions. His supervisor (Michael?), was upset by my questions and unwilling to give me an explanation for performing "restoration work" before locating and repairing the leak. He was rude, argumentative and forgot he was dealing with a consumer of the product his business provides. At this point we decided to exercise our perogative to employ a different plumber. We informed Jay of our decision. We also contacted his office. We asked them to refund our deposit, less any service charge for their inspection ($218.28!!!), which had not been quoted previously. Buyer beware! Not all franchise companies stand up to the service you expect with "name recognition". We cannot, in good faith, recommend this company."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Main sewer lines can clog for several reasons. For example, if you regularly dump oil or grease down your drain, it could eventually block your line. Sometimes, tree roots can penetrate and grow inside old sewer pipes, creating a major blockage. Flushing bulky items (like paper towels, diapers, or baby wipes) can also clog your plumbing system.

Yes, sewage smells can originate from a floor drain. If the P-Trap in the floor drain dries out or if there's a clog or other issue in the plumbing system, sewer gasses can escape through the drain, causing nasty odors. Regularly pouring water into the drain helps maintain the water seal and prevent those smells, but if the smell persists, you should have a plumbing professional inspect the drain for potential problems.

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.

It is safe to flush small amounts of bleach down the toilet. Don’t flush more than ¼ cup of bleach. Instead, consider diluting it and pouring it down the sink drain.

Anywhere from 18 inches to 8 feet deep. Your depth depends on soil and weather conditions in your area. If you live in a colder region, your lines are likely to be deeper than the lines of those living in warmer regions. Contact your local sanitation department or wastewater control board to get the plans for your system and find out for sure how deep your sewer lines are buried.
