"I also needed remediation work done in addition to asbestos removal. Kelvin came out on Friday and assessed the work and provided me a quote to handle both jobs at once which made it easier for me as a customer. The team was quickly assembled And arrived first thing on Monday morning. Even though it was Mother's Day week-end, Kelvin was able to get a team ready to go while juggling other jobs. The team worked quickly and efficiently and the job was done shortly after lunch. They removed flooring, remediated mold, and cleaned entire crawl space. By far the best contractor experience ever."

"I have a 1964 ranch and am considering installing hardwood floors in the den that now has carpet and a layer of vinyl underneath.
I have gotten different stories from contractors regarding the installation process and how to handle the possibility of asbestos under the vinyl.  I wanted to speak with a professional who has worked with asbestos so I saw Jim's name on Angie's List and called him on a Friday afternoon at 4:30.  I was not only surprised that he answered the phone right away, but that he took the time to listen to the installation options I've been proposed and offered guidance.  Fortunately for me, the guidance he gave me doesn't require him to perform any work, however, if I do ever need this kind of work or am asked for a recommendation, he will be the first name out of my mouth.  I really appreciate the time he took to help me and level of comfort I now have in making my decision.

"Blake and his son did a fantastic job cleaning out are air duct system, (we have 2 units) 3 returns and 21 vents (house is 28 years old and never had air ducts cleaned), we wanted them cleaned out cus I found mold in one vent/air duct, they used a product called Decon30 that kills mold and anything harmful in the air ducts. Are HVAC systems are now blowing out colder air even when it’s over 90 degrees outside, they use a system called Ram air that has a flexible hose with a tiny round plastic ball that blows air toward the vent and not into the ducts while spinning inside the ducts knocking dust or anything in its path out. I was worried that a lot of dust would come into rooms and all over everything (I had a lot of stuff covered before they came just in case) but everything stayed cleaned because of the Ram air clear vent cover and clear clover they used on returns. I would recommend putting plastic down if you have mold in you’re ducts or if a item can’t be moved under a vent/return. I was a little disappointed that I had to clean some mold off of the vents that had mold on them but it was not expected and Blake gave me advice how to clean and take care of any mold issues I had, and I had no problems doing it myself with soap and water and (fully dry before putting back up), I was amazed by how much dust was coming out of the returns and some vents. Blake and his son were on time and he came back to do a free mold test that I still have to investigate myself, was a little disappointed that the test didn’t find any mold but he told me mold mite still be there even though test didn’t find it. But I would highly recommend Blake and his son to anyone needing air duct cleaning and mold testing but just not mold removal (cus I don’t think this company does that). Blake is also a personal guy that likes getting to know you and you’re family and you don’t see a lot of companies these days that are nice and not just out for you’re money :) he told me to contact him if I had any issues and that is amazing customer service right there :)"

"It went GREAT!!! The technician was very professional yet personable. He had quite a bit of difficulty getting the old faucet off as it had rusted but he successfully removed it and replaced it with a Delta. He cleaned up everything and left it better than he found it. McCoy Plumbing are my plumbers as they are honest and their prices are reasonable."

"My initial contact, David, with the company was great. When I got handed off to the local company that would be taking care of the paperwork and scheduling several things got lost in translation and my project was delayed from the original promised date of completion. I spoke with my original contact and everything was back on track. The third group of people, the ones that showed up at my house, were also great. This was a tiring process but finding asbestos in your house is not easy either way. I would use this company again if I needed it."

Small jobs welcome

"Superior Abatement answered my call for a kitchen demolition where asbestos was involved. These guys answered quickly and showed up promptly for the assessment. (Not what happened with three other companies) They made a bid on the work that made my day! Then their work was superior. What a nice group of gentlemen. Very polite, very efficient. Sealed the work completely so that I could not smell the mold treatment and sealer even in the next room. I hope to hire them again when the next demolition job is ready to roll."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

While asbestos can’t be directly absorbed through the skin—the fibers are too big—skin contact can still produce symptoms. Contact dermatitis can flare up in sensitive individuals but in most cases, the danger from asbestos comes from inhaling the fibers, or dust, that is produced when asbestos is disturbed. If you touch asbestos by accident, immediately wash yourself and your clothes.

Performing abatement for asbestos means the contractor removes or encapsulates the asbestos to protect your family’s health. The term abatement refers to the steps required to keep asbestos fibers from moving into the air. Understanding what asbestos abatement is can help you discuss the case with your contractors by understanding the jargon they use.

Abatement focuses on immediate hazard control while remediation encompasses a comprehensive cleanup and long-term safety strategy. Abatement refers specifically to reducing or eliminating the immediate hazard by removing or encapsulating it. It’s a targeted approach aimed solely at controlling asbestos risks. Remediation is a broader term that involves the entire process of addressing contamination to restore a safe environment. Remediation can include abatement, decontamination, air quality testing, and post-cleanup monitoring.

If you have an older electrical system with fraying wires and other signs of damage, removal  may be the best course of action. When asbestos begins to break down, it's more likely to become airborne, increasing the risk of health issues when it's inhaled.

However, if the system is in good condition and doesn't have visible signs of wear or damage, leaving it alone may be the safest course of action. An asbestos abatement and removal professional can help you determine the best way to proceed.

In the event of suspected or confirmed asbestos contamination on the body, it is imperative to take immediate measures to reduce health risks. To avoid further exposure, carefully remove contaminated clothing and shower thoroughly to remove any asbestos fibers. Seek prompt medical attention, and inform your healthcare professional about your suspected asbestos exposure. Since asbestos-related health issues can take years to surface, regular medical check-ups are advised for anyone with a history of exposure.
