"We couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable person to repair our ceiling from a water leak. He found the source and repaired a leak in the roof as well as the ceiling. We are very pleased with his work. He is very easy to talk with and is very trustworthy. We will be using his services again in the near future. Thanks again, Scott. Bobby and Elaine Emmert."

"We had leaks coming from two chimneys and we found Apple Valley Stucco on Home Advisor. Sebastian and his crew did an outstanding job of not only replacing the existing stucco on both but repairing one that had been badly damaged. Their work met the highest professional standards. The chimneys were painted to match the house, and they completely cleaned up the porch and yard where some debris had accumulated. They did the work on time and within the estimated cost. I recommend them without reservation."

"Your problem solved not only did a total rip out of our bathroom but Dylan and Jared did all the work from installing the tub, the tile the vanity , installed all the plumbing fixtures , painted , repaired sheet rock , installed electrical switches , heated flooring and in addition they installed storm doors , deadbolts and cleaned up everything after each day of work , we didnâ t have multiple contractors in and out and in addition they installed a whole house water system, Dylan s expertise might be plumbing however he did a fantastic job on everything and he provided a detailed bill before they started and a detailed invoice afterwardsâ ¦ the cost was well within our budget and when it comes time to redo our basement, there is no doubt who we will call.. "Jesùs and his team are great workers. They work quickly and do a very professional job. The walls are smooth and they even did a primer coat so it was easier when we painted. They keep a clean work site and stay in contact about pricing and any questions. We have worked with this company more than once and even referred them to friends in our neighborhood. I would trust them to do work in our home anytime. They have done framing, trim carpentry, and installation of doors and rails as well as painting and drywall work."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

If you’re looking for a reliable plaster repair company, you should start by researching local companies in your area and reviewing their status with the Better Business Bureau. Next, you can contact the potential companies to ask about experience levels, get a list of references, and ask for examples of past work. If you have a textured wall, consider asking if they have examples or references for that particular texture. This method should help you narrow your search even further. You may also want to ask each company if they provide a warranty for their work.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.
