The stairwell was sanded and stained and I was told they could match the stain for the stairs to the LVP and that wasn’t true either. The stairs came out pink. Now I’m having another contractor come in and fix. I would not recommend to a friend."

We do not repair concrete, laminate, tile, cultured marble or stainless steel countertops. Our minimum job charge is $400.00. Rubbing alcohol won’t damage most countertops, and you can mix it with water to create a disinfecting spray to keep your kitchen clean. If you notice stains or cracks on your counter, the good news is that you can generally remove stains or learn how to repair laminate countertops yourself. For stains, a mixture of one tablespoon of baking soda and a few tablespoons of water left on the stain for about 10 minutes can remove them. For cracks, use a laminate repair or fill kit.

Formica® countertops last an average of 10 to 15 years. Top-quality materials that are well looked after and in a low-traffic kitchen could look good for 20 to 30 years or more—but you may want to replace them to modernize your space before they start to look shabby. Avoiding harsh cleaners and using chopping boards can help keep your Formica® countertops looking good for longer.

Unfortunately, you cannot put hot pans directly on laminate countertops, as the heat can cause significant damage. The heat can cause chips, burns, and marks, plus weaken the laminate. If you do have something hot you need to set down, then be sure you use a trivet or towel as a barrier between the countertop and pan so you can prolong its life.

You can cut countertops without chipping by using your saw correctly and having a new fine-toothed blade. You can also put masking tape on the front of the countertop material across the cut line and cut from front to back. However, it is very hard to cut countertops without chipping them, especially if they are made of stone or more fragile materials like laminate. The best advice is to know how to use the equipment, use the correct cutting method for the material, cut from back to front, move slowly, and practice on scrap material first.
