"I’m glad I found a good irrigation company to handle future needs. I had a leak on the side of my house and overwhelmed by it all. They were responsive, quick to come and the leak is now fixed. The two men who came were awesome, friendly and communicative. I’ll see they again come spring!"

"An absolutely great experience. Walt was extremely responsive to my initial call, and although he had a large job going on at the time, he was able to swing by our house that day. He quickly sized up the issue - which was flooding within one of our irrigation valve boxes - and suggested a course of action, which didn't involve spending a lot of money to fix things that didn't need fixing. Because he wasn't convinced that there was in fact a leak, he suggested holding off and keeping an eye on the situation rather than immediately digging up our yard to find something that may not have been there. This fact alone says a lot about his trustworthiness, and it's greatly appreciated. In addition to the flooded valve box, I requested that he take a look at one of my problematic sprinkler heads, which he quickly cleaned out and replaced a portion of. Responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. That was the experience that I had with Global Turf Irrigation, and I would highly recommend them, and I'll for sure use them again if necessary."

"Pete Bowen of Rain Dance Irrigation of Lake Norman was very knowledgeable about irrigation systems. He also can install the irrigation system and the back-flow system without having to hire an addition contractor which saved money. His communication was prompt and clear. Peteâ s service was above and beyond expectations. I highly recommend this company and Pete Bowen."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

The best way to fix a lumpy yard depends on the cause. However, in many cases, you can address yard lumps by improving the health of your soil and turfgrass. Choose grass varieties that are best suited for your area and look for disease-resistant varieties. Fertilize and water your lawn as needed to keep it looking lush throughout the warmer months. Mow your grass at a height of 2 to 3 inches once or twice a week.

Instant greenery, erosion control, and no waiting for germination make sod a preferable choice.

First, you should figure out whether you have dormant or dead grass. Dead grass won’t come back, so you’ll have to reseed if you’re hoping for a lush lawn. However, grass can go dormant if it hasn’t received enough water or if temperatures are too cold. If it’s still decently warm outside, you can revive dormant grass by watering it. But if it’s mid-January in New England, for example, you’ll need to wait until the weather warms up again. If you want to keep grass green in winter, consider a grass like Kentucky bluegrass, which maintains its color year-round.

Germination varies with grass type and climate, generally taking 7 to 21 days. Full lawns develop over a few months.

Too much clover in your lawn can indicate several issues with your soil. Clover can thrive in soils with abnormally high pH, low-cut grass, and low nitrogen. Amending these issues can push clover out for good.

Hardy perennial clover loves the low nitrogen and compact conditions that often come with poor, infertile soils. But other factors also contribute to a clover explosion, including drought conditions, cool temperatures, under fertilization, and over-irrigation. You’ll need to evaluate all these elements when planning to kill off the clover.
