"DDK Construction did a great job with our front porch steps. We had a 5 year old porch that was rotting, and they replaced the stringers, a new beam/ cement, repaired railing, and new steps. The pricing was competitive, they scheduled us quickly, and the staff was friendly. We had an issue with the finished steps, but they made sure we were completely happy with the end result."

"Brandon and Justin did a great job. they handled my concern about the weakened subfloor due to water heater leak. I think they got along good and worked well together. They completed the job and cleaned up after they were done."

"Our HOA has a maintenance contract with Chase. So, when our red maple needed trimming, Chase was our first choice. Always impeccable work and attention to detail, our property has never looked better!"

"We had our bathroom modification completed by Palmetto Bath and Home. We went from a tub to a custom 32x72 inch shower and while still waiting for the sliding glass shower door to arrive and be installed by the glass company used for our project we couldn’t be happier with the outcome thus far. Mason Chapman of Palmetto arrived at our home on the time scheduled for us to describe what we were looking for and to prepare a design and a fair and affordable estimate for the job. After evaluating other contractors, we accepted Mason’s design and quote. The crews used by Palmetto for the job were also on time each and every day of the demolition and install. Dane Easton was the primary subcontractor used by Palmetto Bath for our shower install and he was exceptional! Dane proved a hard-working and dedicated craftsman, a man of integrity and an outstanding human being who was meticulous and took pride in his work while taking the time and effort to explain each and every step."

"Absolutely Fantastic I have worked with many wonderful contractors over the years but Rick Cox (dba Carolina Carpenter) is at the top of the list. He and his son, Josh, are extremely talented, resourceful and get the job done at a reasonable cost. They and the electrician, plumber and other professionals they use are delightful to work with and of the highest honesty and integrity. In June 2018 my wife and I purchased a house in Connestee Falls, Brevard, NC which was beautifully located but in need a great deal of work. After interviewing a number of contractors, we chose Rick because of his directness, obvious competence and easy manner. The renovation required complete gutting of the core areas, including the removal of several walls and a faux stone wood-burning fireplace. Rick started while we were still in NY and when we arrived in mid-August, he had neatly removed the fireplace. In the following 11 months, he replaced it with gas burning fireplaces in the living room and adjoining Master Bedroom (a very difficult thing to do in the space we had), expanded the rear hall, closed several exterior windows, installed 4 exterior windows and sliding doors, re-floored, re-sided and painted most of the common areas, rebuilt and upgraded the stairway to the lower level and put in a fantastic new kitchen. The project cost six figures and encountered many setbacks as removal of walls and floors exposed poor electrical work and many other preexisting deficiencies. However, in each case, Rick, Josh and his associates developed creative solutions and, as we went along, they helped us refine our vision of what we wanted so that the finished product far exceeded our initial expectations. With his fine carpentry expertise, Rick provided a new beamed ceiling and log mantle and wood work around the new living room fireplace which is itself the artistic focal point of the room. He also transformed an eye-sore half wall into a beautiful built-in cabinet which is integral to the new dining area. Rick and Josh work quietly and efficiently and are upfront about timelines and their availability. In fact, when the demands of a difficult new client caused them to fall behind the timeline they set, they worked on weekends to get current. You would be fortunate to have Rick and Josh working with you. We were. They came as workmen but stayed as friends. "Brent of K&B Property Maintenance was very professional. He didn't complain or charge me extra because he had to drive a bit to get to my home. He quickly provided an estimate, answered all my questions, altered the job per my request without attitude, and promptly had his team at my house at the agreed start date and time. He arrived with his team, they expertly completed the remodeling while respecting me and my home. Brent's team worked together like a well-oiled machine. They politely answered my questions as they worked and did not mind me watching them. They cleaned up after themselves when the job was done. I will definitely hire them again. They are a great group of very professional and skilled men."

Trampoline Assembly questions, answered by experts

Whether an in-ground or a portable basketball hoop is better depends on the available space and its usage. For hoops that will experience frequent play, an in-ground basketball goal will be a more durable option. On the other hand, a portable basketball hoop can be the better option for smaller spaces that can’t have a permanent hoop installed.

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the equipment and site preparation required.

Whether building a playground or installing a pre-made one is more affordable depends on the materials of each. In most cases, it’s more affordable to build a wooden playground than it is to buy one and have it professionally installed, but it might be less expensive to invest in a pre-made plastic playground, even if you pay a professional to install it. Wooden playgrounds tend to last longer, but as children age, they will become less valuable. Overall, it may be most affordable to have a pro install a pre-made plastic playground.

You can start by finding playground installers in your area that have amassed mostly positive reviews online. Next, search for the companies on the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website to see if any consumer complaints have been filed. Once you rule out companies with poor reviews and a history of complaints, contact the remaining options and ask the following questions to find the right installer for you:

  • Will you pull permits if required?

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • How long do you expect the installation to take?

  • Do you have experience working with the specific playground material I want?

The cost of the materials to build a DIY playground will run you about $700 to $1,000, which could vary based on the type of lumber you choose to use. On the other hand, buying a pre-made playset costs $1,000 to $6,500 or more, and if you choose to have it professionally installed, you’ll pay an additional $330 to $700.
