"Matt contacted me by phone on June 9th (so he HAD my phone number), he said he would come out to clear my brush pile on Friday around NOON time (his words)..for Friday June 10th...I waited ALL day for him...NO phone call to say he was running late? ....he showed up at 5:03pm...when I said to him this was sure not? noon time??, he replied that it was?...I was not going to argue with him and just wanted him to start on the job since he was hours late in coming and after waiting all day for him .We both talked on a price and he said he could do it in 2 hauls for $200 bucks for EACH haul...So we agreed on that an I let him get to work...My husband came home and peeked out to see what he was working on and he was cutting some branches with a hand saw?.. When I peeked out later on, he was loading selected size branches within the middle of his trailer?? not like a person who would just pick up and place the branch pile on a trailer to depose of it?? it was more of a selected stacking of the wood he picked from....We waited more time and could not have dinner till he was done . Matt said he would knock on my door when he was finished so I could pay him for the first load...but he was just gone?? when I went out there to look?? he never came for his pay? and just left...and our pile looked as it nothing frankly was removed from it except for a few selected branches were taken?? This was not the way to work or to remove a branch piles to take to a weigh station for dumping.. We tried to contact him by phone. and his mailbox was full.. He also never bothered to call me back? and let me know anything? yet he has my phone number.. He did however email me thru Angie's list in the very beginning he said? but I will NOT upload any apps I am not feeling safe with so that was a no go there and I contacted him thru his business card and at Home Advisor ONLY...NOT thru Angie.....This service had my phone number in the beginning and he could of called me to tell me something of his leaving without letting us know? and in the beginning that he was running late for the appointment but he did nothing ...This event happened on Friday June 10th...yet for Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12 he could of called us? to let us know something? but never did.. Sorry Mr. Matt we do NOT work that way when services become a ghost...and when WE try to reach out to you that VERY day you vanish? and your email website also does NOT work ? since it is listed as a domain name only? and is not set up yet? . This is what you provide on your service platform page for your customers? no times listed in your page?? and a phone number that leads to a full mail box? & no working email to contact you bye??...sure does not make you feel too good about your work and services ? and we even jumped the gun and left you a 5 star rating in the very beginning only because we were happy to see you at least show up on that day of Friday...but we were NOT happy when just left without a word and the job was incomplete. YOU had our number but you never bother to call US back? . We read all of your wonderful credits from other folks that were happy about your work? giving you 5 stars as well? and we sure wished we had some of those same results? but what we got was an unfinished project still sitting there and a service that just up's and vanish...We will hire someone else to finish your job and want nothing to do with your service anymore.. I would NOT recommend U at all...this should of been a good experience and instead it was a nightmare...We are hoping Home Advisor will find us a fair pricing company that will remove our branch pile and is more professional by making sure they stay in touch with us and CALL...if they are running late...that's the proper thing to do when it comes to working a job for a client."

"I previously left a poor review as several of the shrubs originally installed died, and I did not get a timely response from the company to rectify. Although they could have been more prompt responding, they ultimately replaced the shrubs, redid the mulch and made everything look great again:)"

"Stiles Lawn care- fantastic! They showed up on time, paid attention to detail, and took great care of my yard as if it were their own. The mowing and cleanup were done perfectly, and my lawn has honestly never looked better. What stood out most was their consistency and reliability—they do exactly what they say they’re going to do, every time. If you’re looking for a dependable, hardworking business that delivers high-quality results, I highly recommend them. I’ll definitely be using their services again!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

You do not have to remove lead paint if the surface is not chipping or peeling or if there are no pregnant people or children under the age of six who live in or regularly visit your home. Lead paint is a particular risk for young children whose brains and bodies are not fully developed. Experts strongly recommend that you call a pro to remove lead paint if it’s peeling or flaking, no matter who lives in the home. You can experience lead poisoning by breathing in or ingesting just a small amount of it.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

Household products such as paints, cleaners, oils, and batteries are considered hazardous and should not be disposed of with regular household waste. Instead, look for local household hazardous waste collection facilities where you can safely dispose of these items without harming the environment or human health.

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.
