"Dario Valdes and his crew did a great job for a great price- a significantly lower price than bids from competitors. This was a difficult job - 3 story house, bevel cedar siding and shakes, steep roof covered in solar panels, multiple gables, 4 different colors. Dario and his team are pros - hard working, skilled, pay attention to detail, never cut corners, took care of the little things that make a difference, e.g. cleaning, surface prep, masking, drop cloths to protect surfaces. It’s fine to paint over acrylic paint with latex paint as long as the surface is properly prepped. If your paint surface isn’t glossy, you should be able to apply your paint or primer directly to it. If your acrylic surface is glossy, rough up the surface with some sandpaper first and use a good primer to ensure proper adhesion for your latex paint.

While you could conceivably select any paint finish, paintable wallpaper tends to look its best with a flat or eggshell finish. A higher gloss paint might make the texture pop more, but it can look a bit dated once the paint has dried. And don’t worry about whether a water-based latex paint will loosen the wallpaper. Paintable wallpaper has a coating that prevents this from happening, so using latex paints without applying an oil-based primer to seal things first is fine.

Black paint absorbs light, so using black paint will cause your room to look darker overall. In addition to reducing ambient light, black paint can make your space feel smaller because it hides depth and contours. The other major drawback is that black paint is harder to paint over with a lighter color. You’ll need to fully prime your wall with a good quality primer and use at least two coats of paint to get back to a lighter color after it’s been painted black.
