I take great pride in quality and customer service to meet the consumer's needs. It is my mission to exceed expansions and give complete customer satisfaction from the start to completion of a project. My glaring quality is being analytic and what defines me is being passionate. Those qualities shine through my work ethic. My reputation has always been based on customer first, quality, fairness, communication, and self-accountability no matter how large or small the job.

"This gentleman is one of the best home inspection professionals I have worked with. He is knowledgeable, thorough, and does a total and complete inspection down to the smallest details. Highly recommend!"

A general home inspection is a non-invasive, visual examination of the accessible areas of a residential property, performed for a fee, which is designed to identify defects within specific systems and components defined by the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board Standards that are both observed and deemed material by the inspector. The scope of work may be modified by the Client and Inspector prior to the inspection process.

"I was contacted by this company's owner (Steve Ford) after asking for recommendations for HVAC technicians. After explaining my situation, I was told that it would be more cost effective to replace my system. He was going to try and secure financing (my credit is not great) and would get back to me - this was on a Tuesday. When I had not heard back by Saturday (today - 12/15/2018), I contacted him and asked for his office location so I could come speak to someone face to face (I prefer this before hiring anyone for anything). He immediately became extremely defensive and evasive (I have our entire conversation saved). He eventually gave an address. I had actually driven past the location twice in the past week, and it is a vacant building with a for rent sign at the street. When I mentioned that detail, his story (and location) changed, and he became irate, used foul language, and then blocked the conversation. If a business owner is willing to be deceptive on something this simple, how can anyone trust any information or prefessional opinion he gives? I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone, and I will continue to spread my story of my encounter with him."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can get a quote from a home insurance company without an inspection. However, if the insurer mandates one, you may have to determine who will pay for the inspection and submit it with your application so they can provide you with an accurate quote.

Replacing older chimneys or fireplaces, like wood-burning stoves, with something more eco-friendly can actually increase the value of your home. Some homeowners opt to remove chimneys as they pursue LEED certification, which may also increase the value of your home. But in general, many potential buyers actually look for operational fireplaces in homes, so removing a chimney and fireplace could decrease your home’s value by up to $5,000.

In most cases, the most severe issue a home inspection report could identify is a structural problem, specifically related to the foundation. Foundation repairs are often the most expensive and intrusive repairs to carry out, averaging around $5,000 but sometimes reaching up to $16,000. You should ask questions during your home inspection about all of the issues your home inspector identifies, but you’ll likely need to think most about foundation problems and how they affect what you’re willing to pay for the home—that’s if you’re willing to move forward with the sale at all.

Yes, suggesting repairs, gutter cleaning, and sealing as needed.

Yes, in most cases, you can back out of your offer if you’re unsatisfied with something in the inspection. However, there is usually no recourse for doing so. The only exception would be if you waived the home inspection, a somewhat common practice to get your offer accepted in a highly competitive market. Waiving the home inspection doesn’t prevent you from getting an inspection, but you usually can’t walk away from the home after the inspection if there’s something wrong.
