"The whole work went so very well. The owner's communication was excellent and timely. The men who came and did the work were respectful, diligent, and excellent workers. I was encouraged just to know that there are such people still in the world. I highly recommend them. They did all 3 systems."

"I had to have a complete change out of my HVAC system. From the beginning of the service call with Joe the service manager to Drew the sales advisor it was a great experience. When the installers Rob and Seth arrived, they were on time. They were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. They laid tarps down to protect the carpet and everything was nicely cleaned up when they finished. The replacement / installation was completed efficiently, and the system was tested and Seth explained the thermostat ops. Rob and Seth make a great team. Seth went above and beyond and brought in the heavy box of dog food that was delivered that morning from the porch. What an awesome job. Thank you Maynor HVAC."

"They were very punctual and professional. They explained what they were doing and gave me options on what I could do to repair/replace my older a/c system. I have had 3 other companies look at this ac unit and none of them ever showed me the root cause of the issue, they just fixed the symptoms. MSG was very transparent with what they were doing and why. I felt they had my interests in mind so when I paid the bill, I felt I got a great value. They will be my HVAC guys and I would highly recommend them."

"I had been told by a repairman from a company I had a service contract with that my furnace badly needed a cleaning and was quoted a price of $600 for the job as well as an additional $400 to remove a nonworking humidifier. These quotes seemed exorbitant and so I got some estimates, all much lower, and chose Dominion on the basis of reviews. Terrone said my furnace did not need a cleaning, passing up an opportunity to charge me for something I thought I needed, and repaired my humidifier for less than the cost the other company had quoted for merely removing it. He showed me what he was doing, explained how my heating system worked, and charged me a fair price for the job. I would certainly call Dominion again for any HVAC needs."

"Technician Alex Z. was the best! He was so nice to stop and show me how to open the system and how to clean the filters myself in-between the regular bi-annual services. I typically don't stop to take time and write reviews, but Alex was so awesome I told myself I have to write a review! Request Alex!"

"Ryan called me within minutes of requesting a repair on a Sunday because my AC stopped working in the heat of summer. Quickly diagnosed and fixed the issues. He answered my all my questions and made suggestions on how to keep pine straw out of the unit. Paperless bill and ability to accept mobile payment or written check. I will be calling him again to do regular maintenance on my heating and cooling system in the future."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

While caulking is handy for quite a bit of jobs, it’s still limited. Any crack or gap larger than 1/4 inch is best left for a more intensive repair job. When you hire house painters, they should run a thorough check to see what they need to repair before they start the job.

Large repairs that caulking typically won’t do well with include cracks or holes larger than a 1/4 inch, rotted wood, or metal surfaces, such as garage doors.

The best way to clean central vacuum pipes is to use a maintenance sheet to dislodge clogs and wipe the inside of the pipes clean. Alternatively, a professional can clean your central vacuum pipes for you.

Whether talking about a whole-house central vacuum or a portable vacuum cleaner, the expected cost of major repair work should always be balanced against its replacement cost. However, excluding high-cost motor replacements or major electrical trouble, repairs on a central vacuum system are typically far less than the cost of purchasing and installing a new one.

It can be difficult to know right away if your central vacuum is clogged since it operates quietly compared to regular vacuums. However, there are a couple of signs you can look for. If you feel like it’s losing suction or isn’t cleaning effectively, then there’s likely a clog somewhere.

Make sure you turn the vacuum on and feel the end of the hose handle. If you don’t feel any suction, then you’re dealing with a clog in the hose. You can see if the clog is further down in the system by attaching the hose to each outlet until you find the one with the least amount of suction.
