"The difference in my carpet before and after was truly amazing. The only negative I can think of is the price. What I paid was acutally $35 more than the estimate... and I had moved all the furniture with the exception of 2 pieces. It seems that should have counted for something. The two guys that did the job were polite and professional."

"We went to their showroom, which has a huge selection of carpets that can be turned into stair runners. Far more than any store I have been to in the Triangle. Once we chose a carpet, we set up an appointment for measuring, and then installation was set up. The quality was outstanding, and the work was done extremely quickly. I know that carpeting curved stairs can be very tricky, especially with aligning patterns. We were quoted two days, but the team finished in just one day -- by skipping lunch and staying late. The price was also excellent. I was amazed at the worksmanship. We had purchased hardwood floors previously from floors to go, with installation, and also had a great experience with that as well. I highly recommend this extremely experienced team."

"Ralph did a fantastic job installing our new carpet in three bedrooms. He had one person with him to help with cleanup and small jobs, but he did the main work by himself! We had family coming into town the next day, so we needed the full install done in one day. Not only did he complete the job in one day but, also worked the day Hurricane Ian was hitting in our local area to complete the job. He truly went above and beyond. His pricing is great, and he also offered a FULL break down of pricing which four other companies we looked out did not. It was very helpful to see the break down of removal, the new padding, install, and even gave me pricing to remove furniture (which we did ourselves to save money). The place where we went to go look at samples had a Huge selection, and John was very helpful. Having multiple brands of carpet to look at as well as discounted product that they already had in the warehouse makes this extremely budget friendly route. He has an "old school" approach with years of experience and was extremely professional. I would highly recommend him, and would absolutely use him again in the future."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Most people realize it is time to replace the padding when the carpet loses springiness or feels thin and unsupportive. Other telltale signs are lumps or dips in the carpet that could look unattractive or cause tripping hazards. Similarly, if your carpet is making a crinkly sound or starting to wear out prematurely, you might need to replace your padding.

The best solvent for removing carpet glue depends on its chemical composition. Most carpet glue reacts well to a solvent made from orange oil. Use mineral spirits to remove tar-based glue, which has a darker, brownish tint. Methylene chloride paint stripper and lacquer thinner should also work, but beware of the nasty and dangerous fumes.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet

There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.

  • The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.

  • Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.

If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.
