Homeworks is best described as a family business. It is a partnership between father and son that takes advantage of a wide range of construction and project management experiences; and, a great deal of personal pride in work and reputation. The owners, Jim and Jesse, are life-long residents of the Helena area, they have deep roots in the community, and are well established in the local building trades industry. Both are involved daily in each project, regardless of size. Over the years they have learned many things about the construction business, but the three most important things they learned were: do exactly what you say you're going to do; if you do something, do it right; and treat people like you want to be treated. Now that probably sounds a little corny in a corporate boardroom, but here in Montana it just nails down what's truly important in business. Homeworks is a small and personal company. It maintains a few core staff and employs other trades on an "as-needed" basis. This allows us to assemble just the right people and skills specific to your project. Such an approach produces high quality results at a very competitive cost. Over the years we have established long-term relationships with plumbers, electricians, masons, engineers, concrete contractors, and many other fine craftspeople. These relationships are enduring because we all share the same high regard for our crafts and our clients. We are all ready to help you turn your ideas into a home fitting your lifestyle, dreams, and budget. We are certified by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Lead-Safe firm and by the National Association of Home Builders as an "Aging-In-Place" construction specialist.

"Initially we went with Lowes who hired a contractor for our bathroom remodel. The whole experience was a complete nightmare. Homeworks was hired to demo the bathroom and fix the multitude of major issues. They were quick, incredibly great to work with, and the new bathroom was done properly with an outstanding end product. We will be sticking with Homeworks for all future projects."

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

If your bathtub is in overall good shape with minor scratches, discoloration, or just general wear and tear, it's best (and less expensive) to refinish it.

If your tub has large cracks, is leaking, or is otherwise severely damaged, we recommend replacing it with a new bathtub. Refinishing a bathtub can only fix superficial problems, so these issues will still be present or reappear after a refinishing.

A bathtub liner can be a good idea if your budget is your top concern when planning a bathroom remodel. Installing a new bathtub liner can give your bathroom the look of a complete renovation without the high price tag. But, it’s somewhat of a band-aid fix and won’t work for all homes, like if you have a freestanding tub.

Ammonia is a powerful household cleaner, but don’t use it for your acrylic tub. Ammonia or cleaners containing this ingredient can break down the surface of the acrylic bathtub and leave it with permanent damage. Instead, try a gentler store-bought acrylic tub cleaner, or a homemade baking soda cleaner.

A chipped bathtub could leak over time if you don’t take care of the issue. A tiny chip isn’t a big deal but may eventually grow into a larger crack. As the months go by, the tub’s barrier against moisture becomes weakened, making it prone to leaking. Large chips can also cause the tub to rust and even crack in half.

Resurfacing a tub is worth it if there are just a few dings, scratches, or chips. Expect to pay about $330 to $630 to refinish a tub. You can restore your tub to looking brand new for less money than replacing the tub. But you're better off replacing old bathtubs with heavy damage, mold, or other major issues.
