Customers say: Quality work

"We hired Ben from Laster Tree Service to take down a massive fir tree that was threatening our shop at work. He responded to my inquiries extremely quickly and came to look at the project the very next morning. He gave me a quote for a very reasonable price, and after handling the fine details, we scheduled the project. Ben and his guy showed up early on the day, coordinated with us efficiently and then did the job in a very safe and professional manner. We are very pleased and reccomend them very highly."

"Most professional and reliable landscapers in town. They start by doing the spring turn up for me and then mow my yard weekly. If there are any issues with my yard they point them out to me and make suggestions like if I need to water more often. They do the Autumn blowouts for me as well before winter and then I am going to have them do snow removal as well. Everyone is really nice and very professional. Thank you !!"

"Besides being an expert arborist, Joseph is a fantastic communicator. He responded immediately, gave us a fair estimate, and communicated thoroughly throughout and after the tress were removed. We had a difficult job but Joseph and his men did beautiful work. I highly recommend Champion Tree Trimming Service."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Unlike some fruit trees, such as apple, sweet cherry, or pear that require at least two trees for pollination, most peach trees are self-pollinating. This means you can plant just one tree and still expect it to produce fruit, typically within two to four years. For best results, consult with a local landscaper to choose the right peach tree variety for your specific climate, soil type, and yard layout.

Maple trees start the growing season by developing small groups of red flowers where the tree's fruit, the samaras, will appear in the coming weeks. Later in spring, the samaras, which many call whirlybirds or similar names, develop into single-winged seed carriers that spin when falling or drifting in the wind.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

In nature, there are many things that can cause a tree to die, including diseases, insects, and natural disasters such as fires or droughts. Non-natural methods of killing a tree include herbicides or manual intervention, such as cutting it down. Consult a tree removal professional about your options for naturally killing a tree.

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.
