"I need to revise a previous review. Jim did do excellent work. His cuts were absolutely plumb, straight and horizontal. Previously I made a statement regarding the precision of his cuts and that was only due to one cut extending outside of the area necessary to install the window. I previously stated that I would not use Jim again, which is misleading. I merely meant that, being fairly handy myself, I would feel confident enough to do the same job myself in the future after having seen how it is done. As far as the quality of workmanship, I have no significant reason for criticism. The final product is excellent, complies with code, and provides much better lighting for our future basement bedrooms than what was there before."

The best way to resurface a concrete porch is to clean and prep the surface, pour a layer of concrete on top, allow it to cure, then seal it. A concrete overlay provides a durable layer and enhances your porch's look. You can even choose a stamped overlay to make it look like stone or brick. To ensure structural integrity, repair concrete cracks before applying the new concrete. If the existing concrete is in significant disrepair, consider removing and replacing the concrete instead of an overlay.

Periodic sealing and cleaning to maintain appearance and integrity.

For thin driveway cracks that aren’t widening or lengthening, a polyurethane crack filler is usually the best way to seal the crack and prevent further damage from water and ice. If you have cracks that are more than ⅛-inch wide or driveway cracks that continue to grow, you should call in a professional driveway repair company to fix underlying problems—like insufficient support from the soil underneath—before filling in the cracks. An epoxy sealant is a better option for wider cracks after the surface is leveled and the underlying problem is fixed.

Mix the resurfacer into a sticky mixture. The consistency should look like mashed potatoes. Use a squeegee to push the resurfacer across the pitted area and smoothen the surface with a cement trowel flush. Make sure you protect any expansion joints with a weather strip. Alternatively, cut out any resurfacer that touched the joint once the mixture begins to harden.

Concrete overlay and concrete resurfacing are both concrete repair options. The terms are used interchangeably, and the meaning can vary from contractor to contractor. An overlay normally involves a thicker layer of new concrete over the old slab, which can last longer and add structural integrity to the old concrete. Resurfacing involves a thinner layer of concrete or resurfacing material and is for cosmetic upgrades only.
