I am a General Contractor and licensed and insured. I work a lot with the local community in helping the handicap and elderly by installing equipment to help the disabled in their home. I remodel bathrooms, doorways and entryways to enable easier access. I can frame, finish, roof, paint, trim and install fixtures throughout the house. I have built sheds, garages and outbuildings to meet the homeowners requests. I have the ability to subcontract out any services that I do not perform. I hire local guys and have a team of 3 employees on call.

A nail in drywall cannot hold very much—usually only a few pounds. A nail in a stud can add support and hold around 20 pounds. If you are trying to hang something heavier, get some help from drywall anchors—toggle bolts are very strong and able to withstand more weight.

There shouldn’t be any gaps between your walls and ceiling. These can be fixed with joint compound but that is only a fix, and it’s much better if your drywall fits correctly in the first place. Which style of corner bead you choose—whether metal or paper-faced—depends on your preference and if you’re comfortable using metal-cutting tools and a hammer. Metal bead offers superior strength and durability but its installation is slightly more involved. We’d say for most cases, it’s better to use metal bead but if you’re not comfortable working with metal, paper-faced bead will work just fine.
