Customers say: Quality work

"We had a very dangerous, unstable tree situation following a storm. Quality Tree Service responded within 15 minutes of my early Sunday message and came out to make a plan and advise us on safety issues. They took it down without damaging neighborâ s trees, saved our fence and made plans for further work. The price was very reasonable. I would recommend Chris Young and his crew for anyone in Central Mississippi."

"Would highly recommend Family Tree Service. Weâ  ve hired several tree service companies in the past, but the quality of this company surpasses them all. Mr. Elbert Holt & his crew took pride in their work, and wanted to make sure we were 100% satisfied before taking our check. Will never look for any other tree service if needed in the future. Donâ  t hesitate if youâ  re thinking about hiring Family Tree Service."

"Mr Eaves and his crew did a great job in removing the small trees In my front yard. I was too happy to have trees gone due to electrical/internet wires being entangled in tree limbs. Eaves also removed the stumps once trees were removed. And they cleaned up well after each task. Thank you for your time, professionalism, and being kind."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

No. Most of the time, suckers are only a sign that the tree is experiencing stress. However, they can also be the canary in the coal mine, letting you know that something else is stressing your tree. If you have lots of suckers on your tree, calling in an arborist or a tree care expert is always a good call to determine the cause and develop a solution that de-stresses your tree.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

You can use the formula mentioned earlier to calculate the depth of tree roots. Each inch of width of a tree trunk translates to six inches of depth within the root system. Large trees extend anywhere from 2 to 6 feet into the ground, with some magnificent specimens going even deeper.

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.

Make sure the tree roots soak around a day before you dig the tree up for the transplant. Keep the roots wet while the tree is above ground. After the transplant is finished, provide consistent water every day for the first month or so. You don’t want to overwater the tree, but you do want to keep the roots wet so they can thrive in their new environment.
