"Jonathan Day is superb cabinet maker (a dying art). We needed an overhead cabinet shortened to accommodate a taller refrigerator. He came to evaluate the job the same day I called, then picked up the cabinet a few days later. When he brought the cabinet back the following week, it was as if it was made to be that height... you can't tell it was modified!! Jonathan is pleasant, courteous, prompt, and his skills are unparalleled... I am confident he is just as skillful in his other areas of expertise... I will definitely call him for our future projects or repairs."

Window Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Typically every 10-15 years or whenever they show signs of wear and tear.

Yes, professionals can enhance screen durability by using robust materials like stainless steel or fiberglass and employing advanced installation techniques. They provide reinforcement and repair services that extend the screens' lifespan while maintaining functionality and appearance.

Yes, a variety of screen materials cut out glare from the sun. Solar screen material can block up to 90% of the glare and heat from the sun, saving on cooling costs. It also offers privacy yet unlimited outward visibility. The cost depends on the size of the screen roll, but solar screens cost between $25 and $90 per roll.

No, but removing window screens will achieve a deeper clean. If you aren’t sure how to remove your screens, you can still clean them while in your window. You can follow the same cleaning steps, but you may not be able to get into corners or struggle to clean the entire screen if the window is up high.

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.
