"Mike did a great job! I have been looking for an all around handyman to fix and install things around a property that I own. I'm glad I found Mike. He has already done two jobs for me. He is flexible schedule-wise and very responsive to texts and calls. His prices are not the lowest but they are reasonable. Very friendly and polite to me and my tenants and he can do a lot of different types of work. I highly recommend him as a general contractor/handyman."

Small jobs welcome

"Evan Clark is an amazing carpenter. He came out and gave a good estimate, and was here by 8:30 am everyday. He finished a 14x14 bedroom and a walk-in closet: drywall, painting, flooring, installed 2 doors. He followed my directions, and didn't try to talk my husband into changing my mind. He rolled with my craftsman theme, made a second level to the ceiling trim to cover the previous carpenter's mistake. It's gorgeous. Kept me appraised of what he was doing everyday, and let me get the materials and pay him by the hour. Evan kept up with his time and stopped me from paying him over when I miscalculated. He is extremely conscientious and I trust him implicitly. He thinks well on his feet, and is good about saving materials. He's coming back to do my kitchen! Valspar Cape Cod ceiling, Blueberry Festival Walls, Ultra-White trim."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The number of shower niches you need (or want) depends on the size of the shower and how many bathroom products you plan on storing. If you keep it simple with just soap and shampoo, the one shower niche will probably do the trick. But if you’re adding scrubs and soaks, you may need to think about installing two or more.

When cleaning porcelain tiles, avoid products that contain ammonia, bleach, and other harsh chemicals. Acid-based cleansers can damage the tile, though you can clean them with a diluted mixture of one-quarter cup white vinegar mixed with one gallon of hot water. It is important always to use a soft-bristled brush or sponge, since hard bristles and steel wool can scratch the tile.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

Porcelain tiles can last 60 years or longer. With high-quality tiles and proper installation, your porcelain tiles may even outlive you, making them well worth the initial investment.

To help your porcelain tiles last longer, you should clean and maintain them regularly. You don’t need any harsh chemicals to get the job done. Rather, use a cloth, hot water, and mild detergent. And don’t forget to learn how to clean floor tile grout, as that’s just as important as tile maintenance.
