"I hired Family Tree Services twice to cut down two trees on my property from derecho in August. My second tree was a very old and tall tree. They handled both jobs with experience and customer in mind. Pleasant to deal with and would recommend to anyone."

"I am an out of State investor. A tree fell on a property, and there were several other trees that were going to fall too. They worked with me to get all the trees cut in the backyard. I was hesitant because I am not local, but they kept me informed with photos and video. The next door neighbor also kept me informed because one tree was leaning towards her property. I am happy I worked with them and so is the neighbor. It was done within 2 days and I would hire them again."

"The owner and his team were very efficient. They started the project on the agreed date, they respected our property, as well as our neighbors. They thoroughly cleaned all debris in both our yard and street. I will highly recommend them for any tree and/or stump removal."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If you don’t stake a tree that needs support, it could be at greater risk of being damaged or failing completely, whether it uproots or falls over. That could cause damage to your property or other surrounding trees. If you want to grow healthy trees, you may need to stake them for best results.

Transplanting a palm tree is a similar process except for a couple of important differences. First, their root ball doesn’t need to be as large as a “true” tree, which makes them a bit easier to dig up and move around. Second, they struggle more with taking root and staying upright in a new location, so it’s important to give them extra support when staking.

Firewood tends to be cheaper during the spring and summer. When the demand for firewood is lower during these seasons, many firewood companies offer lower prices and added discounts. In addition, the supply of firewood is typically higher in these months, meaning the quality is typically higher as well.

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years.

The best tool to cut trees is a chain saw. You can adjust your chain saw to the correct size based on the size of the branches, offering you the fastest and cleanest cut for medium- to large-sized trees. Depending on the type of chainsaw you use, you can cut through larger trees than you would with a more manual tool like an ax.
