I've been doing remodeling about 6 years, but I've been a subcontractor for about 13 years, I was a foreman at S&M Home Improvement in Tennessee for 10 years. I also do landscaping, I was a supervisor at Metro Lawn care for 4 years. The layer of polymeric sand under the pavers plus the polymeric sand that gets swept into the joints between your pavers holds them in place in a few ways. For one, the gritty texture of the sand helps lock the pavers together. Polymeric sand also contains bonding agents that get activated by water. Polymeric sand will take between 24 and 48 hours to fully cure, so do not walk on your paver walkway before this time.

The best material to put between pavers is polymeric sand. This sand contains silica and quartz, making it more durable than coarse or regular sand. It hardens after installation, so your pavers stay in place. Best of all, polymeric sand prevents weed growth in the gaps between pavers. You’ll have less maintenance to deal with once spring rolls around.

Driveway aprons range between 15 and 18 feet long and 12 and 24 feet wide. However, both measurements depend on the width of your driveway and the distance between the end of the driveway and the road. In some cases, you will not be responsible for any apron that goes beyond the sidewalk, but it depends on local laws.

From there on, regularly clean your pavers and try to keep them dry. You can also seal your paver as a semi-permanent solution — just make sure you reseal every 3 to 5 years.
