"Outstanding job. Quick and efficient. Came to give me an estimate the next day and two days later, my walk-in shower was installed. I had to replace a tub/shower combination due to cracks on the flooring and leaking water and I chose to replace it with a walk in shower. It is really nice and I love it."

"Dave and Joe were extremely professional and friendly in every aspect of the job, and even went out of their way to assist my needs. Joe left my place the way he found it, very clean. The tub looks brand new! I'm getting the tile reglazed next week. Very professional owner and employees. I absolutely recommend them."

"Replace existing deck project - 44x14ft. Top-notch! We are the talk of the neighborhood. Comments like AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, OMG!!! to... *This looks like a view from a vacation property*. We could not be more satisfied. I was initially nervous about signing a contract that was 10-14 weeks out, but the deal was in line with other estimates. Once we were a week out, they contacted us about logistics. From that point forward for 4 business days including a Saturday, our deck went from eyesore to destination. Too bad I cannot upload before and after pics :( Starting with the salesperson, Ben to the project manager, Paul to the office staff working permits, the interaction with this business was a delight. The crew was very nice, professional, and efficient. My wife and I wish we had completed the project years ago. I would recommend Maris for any home improvement they offer. I know I will be hiring them again."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

If you have an alcove in your bathroom, you don’t necessarily need to install an alcove tub. You can choose a drop-in tub and fit the frame to the alcove. This allows you to get a more custom or spa-like look. Think cultured marble or tiling for the frame versus the simpler look of acrylic or fiberglass with an alcove tub.

What you include in your bathroom remodel will depend on your budget, personal preferences, and the current condition of your bathroom. Bathroom renovations often involve changing out the shower or tub, faucet, showerhead, tiles, flooring, mirrors, sink, cabinets, and vanities. You may also want to upgrade the wallcovering, adding new wallpaper or paint.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

The plumbing industry has standardized the sizes for bathtub drains. They are 1 1/2 inches wide to fit all standard bathtubs from 14 to 26 inches deep. The standard sizing is to ensure that the drain fits into the P trap, a special part of your piping that prevents sewer water from bubbling up into your home (yuck).
